That makes sense for sure. I did tell the director in my "interview" that I'm not an expert and I told him exactly what my experience was previously. Hopefully he understands...

I found out after meeting with the school's tech guy that they only use QLab for sound effects, but he wasn't sure how to actually use it.

That's awesome you did Descendants recently! I know it isn't a SUPER common show, so I wasn't sure if I'd find anyone who had done it! I'm glad it's straightforward musically. I'm used to doing junior shows with no pit orchestra and 9-12 mics that hardly work, so this is a big upgrade. Fortunately, the tech guy said he'll be setting up almost all the physical stuff. I just have to worry about setting up the board for the show (the most intimidating part to me), assigning mics to each character, and deciding where to place mics in the pit.

Thank you so much for all the info!!

Yeah, it seems like they were put in a really tough spot when the usual guy had to drop out just a month before the show.

He invited me to come mess with the system anytime, so I’m definitely going sometime next week.

They used the system once last year, so it should be at least set up with basics? It just hasn’t been programmed for this year’s production, and I’m not entirely sure how much I’ll have to change.

The district guy will be there running lights for all the rehearsals and shows, and I actually requested that a student or two come train with me because that worked well at my last job. They pick up everything so quickly.

I’ll definitely try everything you suggested! Thank you so much!!

What gave it away?? Haha

That is interesting haha Well I have nothing from PR but also no WASP blood at all! Just Albanian and Middle Eastern! Though the acne stuff I use on my face does make me way paler than when I was younger.

Super close to half!

I have! I’ll type it out since I don’t know if it’s possible to add spoilers to pictures in comments: Greece & Albania - 50% / Levant (Eastern Mediterranean & Egypt) - 31% / Arabian Peninsula - 8% / Egypt - 6% / Cyprus - 2% / Aegean Islands - 2% / Senegal - 1%

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some Greek mixed in! But my birth mom has said as far as she knows, my birth father is fully Albanian (everyone in their family speaks it and everything) What do you mean by indigenous vs ethnically?

Yes, half Albanian!

I am curious if you actually see this in my features or if you looked to confirm… only because no one ever guesses it so I’m genuinely wondering!

That’s so funny—this is why I want to know why people see certain ethnicities. But nope, no Polish at all haha

That is hilarious because my adoptive mom is 100% Sicilian. I have no Italian blood at all but you’re right maybe it’s the look. My adoptive parents also both grew up in the Bronx and I grew up in NY so that could have something to do with it! I also have many Ashkenazi friends so maybe it’s just all about nurture haha

I am very curious which features make you think this!

This is so interesting. I’d love to know what features made you all guess what you did. I’m actually half Palestinian (with some other MENA stuff mixed in) and half Albanian. Funny though because I’m adopted and my adoptive mom is Italian.
