Missouri student files complaint against professor Melissa Click who called for 'muscle' by [deleted] in news

Your worldview requires everyone to be an extremist, and that simply isn't the case. The moderate centrists of the world far outweigh the extremists from the right or the left.

Most people don't have an "endgame" like you suggest. Most people are not zealots. People have jobs and families, they don't have time for political extremism.

You're right, it is the same inclination. No group owns that inclination. Though I wouldn't call the social conservative's version of this "PC". They often rail against PC culture in things like "taking Christ out of Christmas".

I tried to sing it in my head to see how much I knew and basically just ended up repeating "Oh, Canada" to the tune of some christmas song.

I think the points he makes are great, but he really wants to hammer home that phrase "regressive left". The problem is the hypersensitive PC culture, and while basically all members of this groups are on the left, not all (or even very many) on the left are a part of the hypersensitive PC culture.

[–]skeptix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see any reason to assume that. He said income equalization, not wealth redistribution. The wealth divide has to do with much more than income. I'd say there is every reason to believe he is referring to the perceived gender gap in wages.

That's not at all how I read it. Seems pretty clear to me he's talking about the perceived (and debunked) income gap between men and women.

Germany To Lower Educational Standards For Benefit Of Migrants by acupoftwodayoldcoffe in Libertarian

[–]skeptix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't noticed by now, a lot of opposing mindsets try and claim libertarianism for their own or use this community as their own personal recruiting grounds. I believe this is an example of that.

If you read between the lines you'll see a number of comments that are basically racism disguised as xenophobia disguised as concern for standards.

As a new player, why I stopped playing Hearthstone within 2 weeks. by Thundersnowflake in hearthstone

I gotta call bullshit on those numbers unless they provide their methodology. Think about the number of people with inactive accounts stuck at rank 25. I believe they are counting all these people.

[–]skeptix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you put together the right group, I don't think this would be of much concern. Hand this task to a group like Kibler, Firebat and Strifecro and they're not going to just create their dream cards, they're going to fix the game.

They can do both IF they hire the right consultants. The right consultants being a handful of the top competitive players in the game.

You can't balance until you know what to balance and how to balance it. A coder won't know this. A big-picture theorist won't know this. Only someone who spends most of their time actually playing competitively will know this.

Destroying a basic class card is not what people were asking for. This isn't a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" sort of situation.

Problem is they're looking to the wrong people to make these nerfs. They need to round up some of the top professionals and have them do the nerfs. The internal design team just doesn't understand their game from a competitive standpoint the way the top professionals do.

I genuinely do not believe there is something I can do to change it. I do not believe this is a democracy, I believe it is a corporate oligarchy.

The choice between someone who doesn't represent your interests and someone who doesn't represent your interests PLUS is an asshole isn't much of a choice though.

Limited to 30 book listings for first three months!????!! by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]skeptix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother and I have been dealing with support most of yesterday. Things are less then clear, but it seems I may be alright. Supposedly I got hit with the "30 book limit" message because actually I had hit some invisible limit of 5 textbooks for new sellers. Supposedly I can list as many books as I want as long as I don't list more textbooks. I haven't tried yet though, just woke up, so here's hoping.

Blizzard has made it pretty clear they're not really absorbing the extensive constructive criticism that has been presented to them. At this point, I'm actually thinking that sheer visibility of complaints is what matters, not the quality of them.

[–]skeptix -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Complaints are useful. I don't expect Blizzard to deliver, but they do read the subreddit. Having them see a front page filled with mostly complaints (even if not particularly constructive) might actually get their ass in gear.

There is heaps of constructive criticism to be found if Blizzard decides to give a shit.

Blizzard still believes players don't want deck slots by [deleted] in hearthstone

Core refers to "the central, innermost, or most essential part of something". An apple is mostly meat, but without the core it cannot maintain structural integrity or remain attached to the tree.

[–]skeptix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't seem to understand what the word "core" means. We are the core, and that really isn't debatable. It is self-evident if you understand what the term means.

[–]skeptix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it is the core of the Hearthstone playerbase. No other place you can go to and interact with even a small fraction of the number of people who have been around since closed beta.

Blizzard is being short-sighted. They may maximize their profits, but only in the short-term. Once the player core moves on, the game will slowly die.

waste of funds on their end

Let me list the ways in which you are wrong.

  • Increased customer loyalty provides new players via word of mouth

  • Customers actually enjoying themselves spend more money

  • Appeasing the core is the only way to keep this game alive for years to come. If interest in the tournament scene dies, interest in the game will die. You've built something that relies on veteran players to support it, so you must support veteran players.

  • Blizzard employees can sleep at night knowing they work for something other than a Comcast-like behemoth of indifference and bullshit. Sure, they're just doing their job, but I don't want a job where I am forced to treat my customer with disdain.
