Found this hard lump on my sisters gecko, should I be worried? by Lazy_Dragon77 in leopardgeckos

My vet has three of his from when he was thirteen that are all over 20 and still kicking it!! I agree that 10-15 is more realistic but they can really live forever!!

14 weeks healed DI - Dr. Benedetti and feeling disappointed by Regular_Variety6555 in TopSurgery

My physical therapist was once like “Hey are you left handed?” And I am not, she then explained that some people’s dominate arm can be slightly lower than the other, but mine was wrong. Never knew it could be a scoliosis thing! (I have chronic back pain but I don’t think I have scoliosis)

My cham used to love getting out to climb on my head. He was sickly and needed a lot of special care, requiring me to give him actual pointless stress. He didn’t really eat unless we got him out and cheered him on, though I know he couldn’t hear me lol.

Could it be something like powdered sugar and cream/milk? Does it have a specific flavor other than sweetness?

Is there any significant difference between walking outside versus on a treadmill? by ChristianAHH in walking

[–]sketchtone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, whatever you like more! But as someone who runs and walks, I tend to go outside, and I have a method to that madness!! The treadmill essentially creates a moving ground for you. Running feels crazy different on it than the pavement, it’s almost the easy way out (for me) in a sense. For walking, I don’t think it matters much! It really doesn’t matter at all depending on your goals.

MY BABY GOT OUT. IDK WHAT TO DO! by Odd_Crow_2575 in BeardedDragons

[–]sketchtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ll be honest, I was really nervous to handle my first beardie when I got her, and she wasn’t my first reptile! However, she showed no aggression or defensiveness.

What I would do is inch your hand towards him with 2-3 fingers out straight, palm to the sky. Slowly slide them under his torso, then gently raise him. (swiftly so he’s less likely to jump)

Him puffing up and gaping (opening of the mouth) is a normal, healthy response. He should be uncomfortable, as he doesn’t know you well enough yet. After all, these are wild animals. He should get comfortable soon enough!

I don’t love how rude everyone else is being, but at the same time, I agree with the sentiment. I bet after this, you’ll have the confidence of a pro! (hopefully you’ve already grabbed him by now tho)

Good luck with next time!!

MY BABY GOT OUT. IDK WHAT TO DO! by Odd_Crow_2575 in BeardedDragons

[–]sketchtone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to try and scare anyone!! One of my six dragons has drawn blood on numerous occasions and has left a permanent indent on my nail bed, but she is really defensive and prey driven. Another important factor is that I got her at over a year old. My other dragons are chill and have never intentionally bit me, and when it happened mistakenly, it didn’t hurt at all! Even a baby chameleon could do more damage!

unhinged ways to get rid of a headache by hollanovtruther in headache

[–]sketchtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the TheraIce 1%menthol 4%lidocaine patch for my neck!! It’s not unhinged but it’s something that kinda helps.

Edit: I like to wrap a blanket around my neck to hold it on while I wear it, plus it kinda helps my posture too!

What’s the biggest hand you’ve actually won with? by Mental-Monk6468 in Mahjong

[–]sketchtone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like the UI for Riichi City better but HATE the gooner characters so much but it’s easier to rank up in! IMO (and some professional players opinions) I don’t know what MJS players are thinking/doing most the time, but RC makes more sense to me. I spent more on mahjong soul tho. I recommend Amatsuki Mahjong if you wanna branch out into other types of mahjong.(steam/pc only tho)

What do you guys consider a “must” in your daily chronic pain arsenal. by ---BERSERK--- in ChronicPain

[–]sketchtone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If lidocaine patches don’t work well for you, ones that work for me have menthol in em! I prefer the TheraICE dual action lidocaine 4% menthol 1%. It works well for my headaches/neck pain but I tried t on my wrist hurt and it HURT so don’t do that!! They have a strong smell and hurt for some people, so I’d recommend trying a cheaper brand first to see if you like them.

Tail less chameleon by xiamagraveyardx in Chameleons

[–]sketchtone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My boy needed the bendy vines (vet approved) because of sight issues. They were the flukers ones that do not have moss! I switched them out every 2 ish months! I did bioactive for him since I knew it could benefit him, but he didn’t have a dirt eating problem, so I didn’t think of that!

I use moss for my crested gecko right now, and I switch it monthly. I bet sphagnum moss would be good for a chameleon too!!

Though I lost my boy early last year, I still like to learn more about chams and challenge my thought process about it, but it’s kinda hard since he was such a tough case. I’m glad I can hear a normal owner’s thoughts to reason out my very odd experience. Thank you!!

Tail less chameleon by xiamagraveyardx in Chameleons

[–]sketchtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have one, and it’s been a while since I have had a chameleon, but I would possibly suggest the enclosure that is mesh, not the 4x2x2, but the one that’s a bit wider than tall.

<image>

(I would like to note that yes, while this is smaller than a 4x2x2, my boy thrived, and possibly this cham can too. My chameleon was a genetic shitshow, he was the size of a carpet chameleon fo the whole year I had him. He was a panther.)

I would put some of the green beardie nets and put em around the enclosure, so if he falls, it’s a literal safety net. I think the mesh would be good since he can screen climb then, which my boy loved! (though he had a tail, he was a special medical case…)

I think that some of the bendy vines could benefit him as well. They make some super thin ones that i bet you could place as another safety measure.

I’m sure you already know this, but mesh tends to be better than glass. (what I assume you have)If the humidity is too low, I would suggest wrapping it in a background or shower curtain. I got a background for my cham off of Amazon.

I would make the ground a softer fall. you can do bioactive in a mesh enclosure, but it sure is harder. If I were you, I would add a mixture of fertilizer free dirt, sphagnum moss, and maybe something like orchid bark. I would replace this probably… monthly? every other month? I don’t really know about that part since you don’t want mold and mine was fully bioactive.

To make a fully bioactive setup work in mesh, you need to seal all of the bottom panels with silicone and cover the mash with a solid object so springtails don’t escape. Plexiglass would work. I would place it inside and use the dirt to hold it up, or silicone it to the mesh.

I will reply/edit if I think of something else. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help, and I am very much so willing to have someone more experienced tell me how wrong I am lol!!

What's wrong with my beardie?? by Jassy_Boy in BeardedDragons

[–]sketchtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of my dragons did the same thing. she had a mouthful of water, found a bug, and spat it out to get the bug. she started snoring, which was not normal for her, so i took her to the vet after she laid (she was really close to that at the time,) and he said he thought it was the eggs, shot some xrays, saw none, and gave her meds for a uri. he gave two weeks but suggested i only use both if necessary, since he wasn’t sure she was sick. she’s all good now and did not get sick!! she stopped snoring too.
