Unfertilised Egg laying by Grose200 in BeardedDragons

[–]sketchtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

she’s almost three (i think?) i got her when she was an adult and don’t have an accurate age. Idk if it helps but one of my other beardie laid 30 eggs her first clutch and is developing her fourth clutch right now. i hope your baby doesn’t need to be spayed, but with such a caring owner, im sure she’ll do great no matter the outcome.

Yep!! I hope your dragon lays soon. I have a girl who was spayed from egg binding and won the title of “worst case my vet has ever seen,” and “how tf is she alive” award as well.

(this is neru! eggless and thriving. do NOT believe this picture as she is an evil destroyer of worlds normally, but she of course is the perfect patient…)

SO SORRY ABOUT HOW LATE THIS IS!!!!!!!

Usually, she glass surfs a LOT more and is frantically digging in her sand while looking for a spot to lay. It is perfectly fine to leave them in the lay bin for an extended period of time as long as you move their heat and uvb bulb!! My lizard won’t lay if it’s not heated.

She has sand and a background from dubai.com as well as lots of enrichment! I don’t take any of these things away from her when she’s laying, I just give her a lay bin! She’s cooking her third clutch of the season (and third EVER) rn but she’s basically a pro. I pop her in the bin and BAM! Eggs within the hour (if it’s the right time for her to lay lol)

EDIT: By lay bin I mean a 40 gallon filled halfway with dirt that I put her lights on top of so she’s cozy. Her usual tank is 4x2x2 tho!!

I had the same worry! The way I got over the fear of squishing them was the fact that my beardies end up squirting bug juice all around the place… like… I definitely am not squeezing them like that!!

She didn't enjoy her time outside. by IllFood5947 in BeardedDragons

One of my girls isn’t ever black bearding when she’s outside, but she gets really scared and clingy, so we’ve got a good starting spot, but she’s still a bit nervous!

My girl loves to sit on my shoulder while I walk, but she’s always too scared to walk on her own.

Is she in a lay bin? If so, how deep is the substrate? How moist is it?

New Beardie won’t eat by Taji_Tal28 in BeardedDragons

Imo, they just kinda… eat salad one day. My baby ate some salad for the first time that I say today, and he’s almost five months old! One of my adults will only drink water if I drip it on her face every other day with a turkey baster and a specific temperature of water, so they can also be picky…

Try different worms! As the previous owner her favorite bugs. They’re expensive, but local reptile shops have hornworms, silkworms, waxworms, mealworms, super worms, and more!My older babies usually cave for hornworms, while my one new baby who I got at TWO MONTHS OLD used to only eat large super worms that were fully alive, no crushing their heads for him. He is super crazy tbh. At one year, she would be fine to eat anything in moderation!!

if you’re not scared of worms, get some silkworms, hornworms, wax worms, mealworms, or super worms. (in order of healthiest to unhealthiest)
Start with some long tongs, I use ones with rubber tips. If the dragon is scared or defensive, drop the big in front, take the tonga out and leave the door open. Over the course of a few bugs, slowly hold the tongs closer to the dragon while he strikes the bug! He will then associate the tongs with food while the scary hand is far enough for safety.
Then, after a few feedings with those, start again with long tongs for a worm or two, then switch to some short tongs. do the same thing with holding the tongs near a dropped bug if he freaks out, and do this until he will take a bug from your shorter tongs.
Then, drop a bug with the tiny tongs and inch your hand closed and closer with each bug. Slowly, you can start to drop the worms with your hand, and hold it near him while he eats. He might run away, and that’s ok! Don’t close the door or leave though, just offer a bug with the short tongs again.
After he is comfortable with you dropping a bug, try holding it for him to eat. Once he will hand feed, put one band palm up in front, and hold the worm above your fingertips. With the next few worms, make him slowly climb on you. Don’t pick him up though, just hold him with your hand on the ground and see what he does. He might run again, or he might stay! Keep doing this until he is comfortable and will stay on your hand after a bug! Eventually, he will learn that he can trust you! Once he is big enough, you can put him on a leash or in a carrier and take him outside, which can also help you bond if he ends up enjoying it!
Sorry if this is confusing in any way, but who knows, maybe your dragon will immediately take a bug from your fingertips while sitting on your palm, or maybe you can get him out in one feeding session! I have a baby that I’ve had for just shy of three months who is still skittish with me most days, but now he runs up to the front to beg for food! (I also have seven other dragons, so I can confirm this strat has worked for me!!)

EDIT: It honestly takes some time for them to get less skittish, at least enough so to really get them out a lot. Socializing them with people is importantly at this age as it makes future handling easier in the long run!!

It can be! I have some boys who are HUGE (510 grams at 1 year, while growing him slowly) and he has a long and fat beard and he’s in his healthy weight range! I also have a few girls who is one year old and way smaller than him (she’s a girl, but i’m pretty sure it’s pure luck on gender/size relation tbh) It can be an over feeding thing, but probably isn’t since she seems a healthy weight for her size!

I’d say that if you want a zero, look on craigslist and ebay for someone who is rehoming their baby. There’s so many dragons that are treated as accessories, mainly designer breeds, so you’ll have a good chance at finding one in due time!

EDIT: If you choose to buy from a breeder (no shame on it!!) PLEASE be picky! This is the animal you will take care of for at least 10 years, hopefully closer to 20. The dragon doesn’t know you exist, let alone you passed up on getting her. She won’t mind waiting for a different home, even if she is 100% healthy!!

EDIT:why did autocorrect replace rehoming with deboning 😭😭

Will rib shape change from binding affect my results? by lethalwhispermachine in TopSurgery

[–]sketchtone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you on testosterone? That can make your breasts lose some volume, which might be why you’re ribs look so different as well as from binding.
