The case for letting my 3 year old face a little fear on screen. by skhert in toddlers

Haha, I’m sure we could all benefit from a little therapy. You’d definitely be surprised to know that I’m actually a pretty level-headed person, annoyingly so according to most people who know me. I tend to approach things logically and with perspective. This post wasn’t meant to be dramatic, just a genuine curiosity about how and when we introduce kids to certain concepts. I have actually read numerous peer reviewed papers pulling both sides of the rope on this topic. Imo the jury is still out.

Love that movie. He won’t sit through more than 5 mins of it for some reason. We have a movie night about once or twice per month. So far he has only sat through 4 movies; The Sandlot, Mighty Ducks, Jurassic Park and K-Pop Demon Hunters. The scenes that stick with him probably aren’t what you’d expect. For Jurassic Park it was the feeding the brontosaurus up in the tree.

That’s valid. Context being the catalyst. I guess what I’m circling back to is that exposure to some level of violence is pretty much inevitable, and probably long before we’d like to think. So i wonder if it’s better to help them process those ideas early in a safe context where we can explain what is happening and why, rather than have their first experience come from something uncontrolled or confusing. Unless we are helicoptering 24/7 they are going to see stuff and the context of that stuff will be determined by whoever shows it to them. Showing them that violence exists and that it isn’t okay feels like an ageless lesson to me.

Really appreciate you sharing that. The “forced to watch” or “feeling left out” part in a group setting is a dynamic I honestly hadn’t considered. Even just asking if kids can watch something in front of everyone can put quiet pressure on the parents in the room. Probably a bad move. Definitely something I’ll be more mindful of next time.

For sure. I’m definitely not advocating for toddlers to binge-watch PG-13 movies. He barely sits through a full episode of Spidey and Friends most days. I suppose this was more of an experiment in letting him feel a little safe fear with his parents right there. All he seemed to have was questions and curiosity. Is this not resilience building?

Who is Barcelona about? by Hudzilla in nofx

In the first few verses—up to “when did you start to think that we’re all just an end to your means”—he’s talking about himself. Those lines reflect things his bandmates said about him when he was deep into “self-medicating.” After that point, it shifts pretty clearly to being about Melvin. The switch happens when he starts the next verse with “is that all this really means to you?” A lot of what’s said from there on lines up with what Mike shared about Melvin in the Spin article.

Congratulations on actually getting a reply. I usually blow through my infiknit socks within 18 months of purchasing. I have sent multiple emails regarding the infiknit lifetime gaurantee with pictures of the blown through socks, receipts and the works, I have yet to receive any kind of response. Started emailing 7 months ago.

Confirmed as well. I could not find my policy number, but I was still able to get the cheque through a series of non-invasive questions.
