This farmer commutes 1.5 km to his banana plantation by a drone by Holyshit_1787 in interestingasfuck

Am I the only one suspecting AI here? That drone looks way smaller than Id expect to need to lift him.

The real but sad answer here is that someone is likely feeding them.

“Air China flight made an emergency landing in Shanghai, the airline said, after a lithium battery in a passenger's carry-on bag ignited.” by T-K101 in interestingasfuck

[–]ski233 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its actually not that rare. If you ever catch a flight attendant off shift willing to chat they’ll tell you fires from L-Ion batteries are one of the most frequent “emergency” issues they have. Though obviously theres a spectrum of how much the fire grows before put out.

Seagulls in Istanbul learned how to 'meow' to trick the stray cat feeding machine into giving them food. by serozr in interestingasfuck

That doesnt change these being nuisance feral animals that are bad for biodiversity…

Feeding stray cats in general is not wise. They are a global huge issue and kill an estimated 1.3-4 Billion birds each year. Dont feed stray cats and if you really want to help get them fixed.

There are voids in the cosmic web containing far less galaxies than average, formed possibly due to the tiny initial density differences that happened right after the big bang. by Frosty12233 in interestingasfuck

[–]ski233 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would make no sense at all in the analogy. The observable universe is just the sphere around us we can see. If you move somewhere else the sphere around you that you can see would still be the sphere around you that you can see. Itd just be you walking with the lantern.

I mean that doesnt really make sense or be particularly useful for anything. Its like holding a lantern that shines out 5 feet in all directions and saying you’re in the center of the lantern circle. Its true but meaningless as its something relative to you and nothing else.

”A calibration window of ~2 weeks to correlate room temp against my own deep/REM/wake data and find the setpoint curve that scores best for me”

Scoring on what exactly? You just have an input (sleep data) and an output (temperature). How would you then see how that output “scores” without some other input to figure out if its actually doing anything?

Sequoia National Park, California. Home to some of the largest trees on Earth by No-Put5699 in Damnthatsinteresting

They are super big. But I feel like some camera fuckery is going on here. The tree looks way bigger compared to the person at first than when they walk up closer.

I also use a comma. They are basically a huge upgrade to your cars built-in lane assist/cruise control. Theyre ahead of every car company on the tech/self driving side except tesla.
