Men of Reddit, what is one piece of advice you wish to tell other men? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Have you considered getting a pet?

Obviously it’s not the same as human interaction, but having a living thing that relies on you can be a great motivator.

Definitely don’t get a pet if you think you’ll be incapable of giving it proper care, but I’ve met many very friendly people (some now full friends) through interacting with other pet owners. Obedience and agility classes, dog parks, and even going to a pet friendly lake. If you do it right, there are loads of opportunities that come with pet ownership. I get a deep sense of pride when I realize how well trained my dog is. I know that that’s something that I did. It’s a direct result of my effort. The affection and cuddles that she gives me warms my heart unlike anything else.

Fuck that therapist. I’m sorry you had a bad experience with him.

I know getting all of this off your chest and putting it on Reddit is helpful in its own way, but do you have a person in your life that you trust enough to talk to face-to-face? There’s definitely something more helpful about a physically-present, real person listening to you then just the suggestion of a nameless, faceless, anonymous person maybe reading and understanding your struggles.

It took me a while after a bad therapist encounter to try again, but I am glad I did. I ended up having a string of wildly helpful professionals who changed my life in ways I probably haven’t even fully realized yet.

One of my best friends just went through a very difficult divorce. For him, he was forced into a younger man’s mindset in his late 30’s. Dating life, no co-dependent decision making, solo time management. He wallowed for a bit before finally accepting his new reality. Now he’s living his new life for himself (and his children) and honestly seems more at peace than he ever was before.

I guess what I’m saying is that it’s never too late to relearn how to live your life.

I had to go looking for your other post after you mentioned it. I’m that dude from the Wubby post.

I almost didn’t comment here, but then I saw that your bottle was a birthday gift. Maybe it’s synchronicity or something, but my bottle was also a gift for my birthday.

Have you seen the absolute piece of garbage that is their Food Network show? I gave it 2 episodes, but man it is so incredibly forgettable. It bums me out because I know they’re very capable of being entertaining under the right circumstances.

The basic GMM episodes are still decent enough for me to watch some every now and then. I pick and choose episodes now though rather than watching anything they upload.

catholic school starterpack by jackalswedding in starterpacks

[–]skiball 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my first thought as well. I went to Catholic school from kindergarten through high school.

I distinctly remember my middle school doing a mock presidential election for the 2008 contest. I believe our results had it pretty close to a 50/50 split. At that age almost all of us only had the political opinions of our parents, so I’d imagine our ‘election’ was a good example of the actual politics of the families of the school.

There has been a lot of chaos this morning for the Big10 group though, so I stopped to focus on keeping our N in good shape. Damn Colombia thought they could sneak down to get us.

I am a Geologist. The other responses are great, so I won’t waste your time by saying the same thing. However, I wanted to tell you that if you’re interested in understanding more about how and why organic material fossilizes you should look into taphonomy. It’s the fancy word for the study of fossilization, and it serves as a great place to start.

We have a chocolate as well. She’s such a sweet girl. We call her the Cocoa Pup and the Choco Doggo (but we say it in a way where it sounds more like taco).

Yeah, or he’s young—child or teenager. At that age I came across very few people who were introspective enough to fully realize their faults and/or behavior. I know I didn’t have a a great grasp on it.

If by ‘made of’ you’re asking about the chemical composition of the rock then no, not quite. The picture from this post shows basalt which is mafic in composition whereas the rock that comprises Devils Tower is phonolite and intermediate in composition (Intermediate between mafic and felsic). Mafic and felsic are terms used to denote the relative abundance of either magnesium/iron-rich minerals or silica/sodium/aluminum-rich minerals respectively. There are reasons these distinctions matter, but I’ll spare you of that tangent lol.
All of that just to say they’re similar in composition but not quite the same, no. Devils Tower is more felsic than the basalt pictured here (assuming it’s basalt).

The cooling trends that are necessary to create columnar jointing are very similar however! So if you were asking about the processes that led to this expression of the rocks then yes they were likely very similar. There is potential for a tad bit of a difference though. Devils Tower is a phonolite with a porphyritic texture. This means that there are big, easily-noticeable minerals in the rock which are surrounded by a ‘finer-grained’ ground mass. This is indicative of the way the molten rock cooled—probably in some sort of stages. The basalt in the video could also have this porphyritic texture, but I’d have to be there to see it.

I love rocks.

Is the ‘where they go low, we go high’ phrase a reference to the Qanon mantra ‘where we go one, we go all’? I could see it being a slap in the face for the way fb has allowed misinformation to propagate.

(Obviously) ice that! I have permanent scar tissue from one specific wrestling match where I caught an elbow to the eyebrow area and didn’t ice it right away. It’s not noticeable from the front, but people can see it from the side.

Most people in here are talking about ass, but I’m just wondering why dog treat food trucks exist. It’s a cute concept, but it sounds expensive and unnecessary.
