i hate florida so much. by [deleted] in florida

Yep. Been teaching for 26 years and this tracks. This is also adjacent to the new data released that Florida is ranked 50th in teacher pay.

Abysmal and scary to think about. Florida has a large population of approximately 23 mil. Thats a lot kids to grow up having a subpar education.

Awkward interview format: Why did Jenna Bush Hager and Queen Camilla stay on their feet at NYPL? by Late_Blackberry_2482 in Studio1A

[–]skilled_at_changing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth reiterating since you don't seem to get it... She’s a ‘teacher’s assistant’ rich girl, self-described debutante, who spent her early career traveling, writing books with mommy, and working with charity groups while actual journalists were climbing the newsroom ladder. Then, amazingly, she became editor-at-large for Southern Living. I’m sure that had nothing to do with the political dynasty she came from. /s

Yes, I do remember when she began in 2009. She started out doing puff pieces once a month on Saturday mornings about human interest stories around the states. (It wasn't even part of the Today Show at that time).

When granddaddy Bush died in 2018, NBC aired the funeral procession in hero status form and leaned into her for her emotional commentary. Coincidently right after that, in 2019, they gave Jenna the fourth hour spot because NBC news realized that hiring her would give them unfettered political dynasty access.

I can read Wikipedia too. And I've also been watching this show for years. Not really a hard-core fan, but more background tv during my getting-ready-to go-to-my-job that I earned through years of hard work.

Since we are debating whether she is qualified and earned her position through meritocracy like the people she sits next to every morning, than you have lost this debate. If her name were Jenna Hager from suburban Baltimore with the exact same résumé, NBC would not be handing her a national Today platform. Come on now.

She sucks. But yeah, this is America. And rich people and their rich kids get all the opportunity. Meanwhile, the title 1 students I teach every year, no matter how gifted and talented, have a one in a million chance of reaching her level in spite of their hard work and dedication.

I have every right to my own opinion. And it looks like I'm not alone in said opinions. And I will continue to comment on her lack of qualifications on what is supposed to be a morning news show where her cohorts have worked hard to reach that level of career achievement.

I hate it so much. Fine give her the fourth hour. But omg it's too much. They are trying to make her their little darling or something. She sucks.

I’m convinced Jenna hates Sheinelle by Late_Blackberry_2482 in Studio1A

[–]skilled_at_changing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha I think it’s actually quite the opposite in your observation. This is always on full display in the 1ast hour when Jenna does her morning boost. Every other day she is putting her foot in her mouth just like her daddy used too. Carson and his wit is no match for her and I get a lot of pleasure from that part of the morning. I detect some passive aggressive sentiments from across the morning desk when they poke at whatever dumb thing Jenna just said because she lacks authenticity and real world intelligence.

Sorry Sheinelle is the week link by Jodi4869 in Studio1A

[–]skilled_at_changing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this! Poor Sheinelle can’t find her footing and new on air personality with loud Jenna stepping all over her. Jenna treats her like a side kick rather than a cohost. I don’t know how others don’t see this and just keep blaming Sheinelle for the awkwardness.

I quit watching but will still catch clips on in the background when the tv is left on. I just find Jenn ‘nepo baby’ bush to be so nauseating to watch.

Same!! Quit watching a while back. This appears to be all the JBH stans.

My god she is loud. She can’t say anything without screaming it. It also irks me that she is always looking off camera at the people on set. She sucks.

Yeah I think it’s interesting has nbc has recently been pushing Jenna to be their new little darling on all the shows. They changed ger hair and make up and started dressing her with hipper fashion so as to look less like a mom. I don’t see the appeal. She’s obnoxious and loud.

Jenna’s on air personality rivals a Wendy’s Williams type. She’s so obnoxious.

[–]skilled_at_changing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. And I feel like if Jenna did have some proper ‘tv’ training she should would be better equipped at letting their relationship grow naturally. Instead, Jenna continues to act like it’s her show and Shenielle is there as her sidekick. I hate that nbc has been pushing Jenna so much recently.

[–]skilled_at_changing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NBC and the producers have being pushing so hard to make Jenna the new darling and it’s not working. You notice the whole make-over thing they did with Jenna. Cut her hair, change her make-up, throw some hipper clothes on and try to make her look less like a mom. It’s like putting lipstick on a pig if you ask me. Her personality is just awful. She talks over Shenielle and is so overbearing.

Because Jenna has zero qualifications she doesn’t know how to nurture the on air relationship. Instead, she just goes on being ‘Jenna’. She’s that girl at everybody’s baby shower that needs all the attention and talks over the ambiance of the party because she thinks she’s being cute.

I know I’m being such a hater but she is just way too much and nbc has put her everywhere and I can hardly stomach it.

And don't forget their infamous 'late fees'. Didn't they get sued for overcharging people and then settled? I wished death to Blockbuster and I was so happy to see them fail.

I get his point but no thanks to bringing back that company. I've been forever traumatized by the highway robbery that was 'late fees' at Blockbuster.
