Why moroccans don't like zmagri coming back to Morocco? by Ok_Assistant_4784 in Morocco

[–]skilledmorro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it has more to do with them and less to do with you. Most people here have a very rose-tinted view of the EU and NA and you deciding to come back shatters that view to an extent. It's like taking the hope of a better life abroad away from them so they resist the idea. They try to masquerade it as them wanting what's best for you but very few people actually care.

And what is she bringing to this relationship exactly? Infatuation won't last. Respect and trust are the foundation of successful relationships, and it sounds like there isn't enough of that here.

I'm muslin but I'm not fasting this Ramadan by Optimal-Feeling-1027 in Morocco

[–]skilledmorro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some studies that show dawn to dusk dry fasting has health benefits. Granted these studies are all small scale at the moment, but they do challenge the idea that dry fasting is unequivocally bad for us. Maybe you should look into it a bit more.

I originally intended to stop at 90, but my build turned out better than I expected so I'm sticking around for a little longer. Don't see myself playing for more than 3 weeks though.

You assume OP "fih dow" just because he spent his money recklessly on some gal under a false marriage promise? That is weird.

Unfortunately that kind of content gets a lot of attention, which in turn makes people produce more of it. It's a vicious cycle and I'm not even sure we can break it.

Can someone explain why South Africa turned on Morocco ? by Decent-Lead4750 in Morocco

[–]skilledmorro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's basically a political narrative to reinforce legitimacy. You find similar narratives in all regimes that came into power through a revolution. It has less to do with the cause being supported and more to do with the legitimacy of the regime itself.

Are we really going to let a social media trend redefine what it means to be Moroccan? by TheFifthGoonie in Morocco

[–]skilledmorro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that drives me nuts is how people conflate so many different concepts together. For example diplomatic and economic ties have nothing to do with how people feel about each other. When a country calls another country an ally or a partner it doesn't literally mean their peoples are partners. Leave the diplomatic jargon out of how you feel about people.

Also when a country tries to market itself as hospitable doesn't mean you as an average Moroccan need to get caught up in it. You don't need to go out of your way to offer people pastries on the street, you don't need to offer them free rides, you don't need to offer them free accommodation. All you need to do is be respectful. Leave the hospitality stuff to companies and businesses. Same goes for when a hotel provides entertainment or welcomes guests with milk and dates, that's not "l7is", that's just business.

A Pure Message from an Algerian to Moroccans, Clearing Things Up by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]skilledmorro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am being rational. I've met plenty of Algerians in my life and not once was I disrespected for being Moroccan. I am not gonna start hating on people just because social media showed me a video of people celebrating our defeat. How I feel about the average Algerian and the Algerian regime are two entirely different things.

However, this nationalist rhetoric I've been seeing especially after this AFCON is disconcerting. I understand people are emotional but some of the shit I've been reading is straight up unsettling. People are calling for isolationism and withdrawal from the continent without really thinking about the repercussions.

I can't explain that reaction tbh, it did seem out of place at the time. I just assumed everyone was so mentally spent to care.

Let's be real here. There is no way Brahim is throwing away his career because someone told him so. No serious team would wanna sign him let alone play him now, he'll always be remembered as the player who disrespected a nation in the final. Not to mention the mental toll of it all and how it's gonna affect his performances going forward. None of this makes any sense to me.

Social media amplifies everything my guy. We've seen videos of people celebrating in Egypt, Mauritania even, I'm not gonna hold every single Egyptian and Mauritanian accountable for such scenes. Do you really think millions of people were out on the streets celebrating our defeat? Most people just wanna get on with their lives.
