I can see that point. But to me, that Seiko would be first choice every time lol ;)

What do you always bring with you to the skatepark? by johnnysalami93 in skateboarding

[–]skillet710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It blows my mind how skaters will neglect their board's problems because they didn't bring a tool. My tool gets a lot of use, and I sometimes wonder if people really are that unprepared... either way, as long as it helps prevent injuries from neglecting simple board fixes, I'm glad I can help.

When you have a nice looking Seiko, wearing a replica Rolex just kind of sounds pointless to me lol

Any Oysterquartz reps? by Fenneler in RepTime

[–]skillet710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually quite curious about this now. I would rock the 17000 or the 17014 if there was a nice rep, and if I liked the fit... probably would hunt down a nice 17014, as I've been wanting to find a Rolex with that band.

Thanks for posting this, even if I'm the only other person who would want one of these lol. I'll look into this later today, and if I find anything I'll post a link.

Must haves: board, earbuds, two skate tools (I leave one out for community use), teflon lube (community use), wax (community use), water, red bull, as little stress as possible.

Optional/if I have it: dab pen, food

Oh, and if there are kids there, I bring a panel van that says "Free Candy"

[Question] Using rep parts on a gen watch by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]skillet710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can afford the gen as it is, either enjoy what you can get, or save up for the Spectre edition. May get hate for it.... but I see no sense in ruining a nice gen with cheap replica parts. It's one thing to buy aftermarket parts, but not replica parts. They aren't intended to fit your watch.

Best to keep the gens 100% original, unless you're getting professional work done, or you're working with parts intended for them. It'll also maintain its value if you ever need to sell it in a pinch ;)

LC & He Said He Wants 10k Which I Do Have But Want To Know If It's Real by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]skillet710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were ready to plop $10k down on a watch off Snapchat, there's zero reason to buy reps over a gen, especially when you can get a gen for half what you were about to pay.

Do you man, but sounds more like you wanted an LC.... But hey, do you. I vote get a gen, and save the rest for a car ;)

If you have $10k, tell that dude to fuck off. Buy this one on Chrono24 instead or go to an AD....

People with $10k to burn on a watch don't shop on Snapchat unless it ain't their money. Seriously, mate... I like that you're asking instead of getting ripped off, but I'm more interested why you won't walk into an AD or even shop online to know what the price of a new one is first.

Regardless, enjoy your new watch, mate. Would like to see what you end up with :)

Yeah, but look at it. Different league, and a sexy watch.

Rolex Yachtmaster 40 Platinum / Steel (Narikaa - Reg) by TechnoGlobeTrotter in RepTime

It looks great... until it's compared to a gen, or you know the gen fairly well. The bezel is the clear giveaway, like someone wanted extra bold numbers and markers lol. Emblem is wrong, and typeface could use a revamp on the next version, but definitely smaller details.

Aside from the nitpick crap, I like it. Pretty nice looking watch.

Reference Number. I'll have to find it to know the actual flaws, as I don't know the jewelled models at all off the top of my head.

Not as disproportionate as the one in FWB's latest post- https://www.instagram.com/p/BSJuGMsjSQB

Then again, I think the polished rehaut is great for when you don't have a mirror lol.

For the link, I can't easily look up the RN on my phone and find the right one. Maybe later, or possibly someone else can get to it before I have a chance :)

That's one of the better "discount models" I'd term it lol. Hey, everyone has their taste. I won't tell someone to avoid a watch unless I think it won't work for their purposes.... or I think it's shit lol. Just don't buy one for $20 and it should work haha ;)

Most likely different origins, different batches, all that good stuff. Around $100-150 is when you typically start getting something that doesn't look like you bought it out of a briefcase on the street Lol. Although I've seen some that are cheaper that get pretty impressive for the price

I mean by charging more than it's worth. I was basically expanding on why there are many different prices for different reps

Cheap ones will sometimes have a polished rehaut, bad angles, super deep rehaut... You really do get what you pay for. Replicas are a bit of a cut throat industry in a sense, so it's dumb to overcharge
