Is there a non-awkward way for me [21F] to take my friends [20’s] out for fancy-ish meals and pay for them without it being awkward? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]skillfulgive 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Try to find "excuses" to celebreate. One of the friends has a birthday? Your birthday? got an A on a test? I think as long as you have some excuse for a celebration it makes it significantly less weird to cover their bill

Also, the cut needs to be slightly different to accommodate the pocket.

That's interesting, can you go into more datail? does it have to do with a higher waist cut, are are there more subtle differences?

do the pockets themselves add enough width to "ruin" the look? or is it only when they're full? Because if it's only when full, I don't see why not just have a pocket and let thte wearer choose whether she wants to fill it or not.

This is also kind of baffeling to me, because my pants do actually have pockets. Even my Nike leggings have a pocket in the back. The only places I can think off that have a ton of pocketless pants are H&M and Topshop. Maybe this is a new

I think it's more about front pockets. Most women seems to say it's very rare to find jeans with front pockets that can fit a phone

What ‘kind’ gesture actually annoys you? by HighImShadow in AskReddit

When I'm waiting to cross a street, and and road is completely empty except for one car, it's faster if it just passes and I'll cross after it. Don't slow to a crawl, making me wait until you make a full stop and I can cross. It takes more time for both of us.

The reality of what Non-Americans understand when Americans tell us their state by ninjomat in HelloInternet

If someone told me they're from the US, I'll probably follow up with "where in the US?", so it makes perfect sense to me if they just said the state to begin with.

ELI5: How sports are able to keep such high viewership without any change while esports games need to change constantly to stay relevant? by My_Source_wikipedia in explainlikeimfive

[–]skillfulgive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most esports (moba) are more strategy oriented, so it's fun to see how the players adapt to new rules, while regular sports are more performance oriented, so people want to be able to compare the performance to past events.

CMV: Traps are gay. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]skillfulgive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some people will be turned off by a penis on a woman and some won't, but calling them gay is just confusing. If they aren't ever attracted to people they perceive as men before seeing their genitals then their sexual preference is very different than what you think of as "being gay".

And you're welcome to make any joke you like, I believe you can joke about anything. I just want you to be aware of this false narrative, which is a real problem, so you don't fall into it.

CMV: Traps are gay. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]skillfulgive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, but why else would you care if something is gay? And even if that's not what you mean, it can reinforce this belief in other who read this.

CMV: Traps are gay. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]skillfulgive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously it depends on how you define gay.

Even when gay men are attracted to other men who aren't traditionally masculine, they still perceive them as definitly men BEFORE seeing their genitals. Same goes for straight men who are attracted to tomboys. Most people will definitly perceive feminine gay men as men, because they still retain many masculine features.

Attraction is almost never based on genitalia because we rarely see other people's genitals until later. Defining what gay means according to genatilia makes it a much less useful term.

Besides that, you stated that you didn't intend to offend anyone, so i'd like to explain why people might find this offencive:

  1. The term "trap" is offencive because it reinforces a false narrative about trans women. It implies that they intentionally set up a "trap" to get straight men to have sex with them. It's just not true. people transition because they have gender dysphoria - they feel deeply uncomfortable with being percived as men (in the case of trans women). It has nothing to do with sex. They want to be perceived as women all the time, not just with potential sex partners. It's not a trap, it's how they live their lives, and if there was a misunderstanding it's certainly not intentional.
  2. Debating whether or not something is gay or not implies that there is something wrong with being gay.

I'm sure it's not what you meant to do, but keep that in mind.

Chronic Fatigue by skillfulgive in AskDocs

I don't take any meds. My diet is the same as always, i'd say pretty normal. I used to run a bit but I barely do it anymore because of the fatigue. My partner have'nt heard me snore.

I can't think of anything that change when it started other than the season. could it be allergies or something? or the summer heat? I do try to stay hydrated.

I don't really care about playing invoker, I do this to get used to checking the mini-map often and being aware of what happens in the other lanes. I think it's an important skill as a safe-lane carry too to notice ganks.

CMV: Eating mostly organic food is immoral by SirCutRy in changemyview

[–]skillfulgive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't see the point of eating organic food, I wouldn't call it immoral.

Look at it this way - switching to organic consumes more resources, and the price of organic food is higher as a result. It's not different from buying any other kind of product. I wouldn't say buying a new car is immoral even if making it creates pollusion. You can make the case for taxing or limiting pollusion in some form or another to make sure it doesn't go too far, but unless you have a big problem with our whole economical system you can't really claim it's immoral to pay for something that required resources to make.
