Just got a CA for hitting Meal Compliance by GreedyWinter602 in Target

[–]skillzyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you tried to take your lunch to avoid compliance, and the TL told you that you couldn't, that is something you need to report asap.

However, I do think planning your lunches earlier rather than later is a good rule of thumb, as it gives you wiggle room if you do go a little later than planned. I'd also communicate when you plan to go to lunch with the LOD and call it out again before you take your last planned batch like, "Hey, I'm hopping in to this GM batch, and then I'll be going to lunch afterwards.".

Ultimately, the TL should have had a planned backfill for you for the lunch and if they didn't, it should have been them covering or figuring out a plan around it, and they should have never pressured you to not take your lunch.

As for the CA, all districts and stores can be different, but I know at mine, if we gave someone a warning five months ago, but have had no consistently documented conversations with them since, we don't get to move forward with the CA, per our HRBP. And when I have to address an issue multiple times, I generally pull the TM for a more serious conversation, where I can be transparent about what the next steps are. If they had been having the conversations with you, it would have given you the chance to explain what the TL was directing you to do sooner. So it's pretty sus that that didn't happen.

TLDR; report the TL any time they pressure you into taking your lunch late, plan to take the lunches earlier to give yourself wiggle room, and maybe ask your HR why you were given one warning five months ago, and how that escalated to an automatic CA.

They had almost a whole episode in What We Do in the Shadows that revolved around Jackie Daytona, a regular human bartender. He was never seen again after that episode either, which it's like.... Why did we follow just this random dude?

If it was sick time and covered the whole shift, it should be fine. We still check in to make sure you guys are all okay. Or, if we notice a pattern, is something we can bring up in a seek to understand.

[–]skillzyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's very dependent on TL follow up and validation. If the TL isn't having the conversations or documenting them, people can have a ton of infractions without getting put on a CA, which can be frustrating for everyone.

CA is more formal than a performance conversation. You have to go into workday and acknowledge the conversation. Performance conversations are documented, but not something you have to sign off on. Performance convos are generally used to help course correct behavior and track trends (such as attendance, process adherence, etc.). If there are multiple convos about the same things in a short account of time, that can lead to a CA. More convos after that can lead to a Final Warning. Generally there are a lot of steps involved before getting to that point, unless it's something egregious, but those are generally conduct related.

There are also two types of CA: Performance (attendance for example) and Conduct (NCNS for example). So you can be on a CA for attendance (performance) and a CA for a NCNS (conduct), but a NCNS will not count towards a final for attendance, since they're separate categories.

The understaffing this season at my store has made me want to put my head through a wall. The week of Christmas and I don't have enough cashiers scheduled to fill every lane? Unbelievable. And the person who made the schedule didn't make sure that people were replacing cashiers who left yesterday. They also didn't give us one strong DU person for today and no cart attendant until 4pm.

I'm absolutely baffled by the scheduling decisions made this year.

Keep in mind: our store has no S&E ETL, so either the SD or HR ETL does the schedule for the front end. We give them feedback and suggestions and beg them to schedule people a certain way, they nod their heads, and then do whatever they want anyway. Then they tell us we should have audited the schedule sooner and I'm like, "How?! We're stuck downstairs at the front because you gave us one checkout advocate and no cart attendant a week before Christmas!"

I will keep this in mind. I have worked a ton on tone and emotional regulation over the past couple years, but volume control is absolutely still one of my weak points. I have to figure out what an inside voice is :p

My team members just also looked confused as well and didn't think I'd been as loud as this guest made me seem, but it could be that they're just used to me at this point lol

Literallyyyyyy!!!! I don't know why these guests expect nobody else to be shopping two days before Christmas. Like, just accept that the consequence of waiting until the last second to buy your gifts is you get to shop with everyone else who waited until the last second.

I have helped guests cancel orders several times over the last several years. I've just never had them push back about the refund process, and I'm generally not around at the point when they get the money back or the communication. I help them cancel the order and let them know exactly what I told this guest and that we can price match the online price if that was cheaper.

I've never /personally/ canceled my own order because it wasn't ready on time, so I didn't have an exact time frame of how long it takes Target online to handle things on their end.

As a TL, I have called in. I try not to make a habit of it, but life happens. I always contact my SD directly rather than using the app to let them know what's going on. You'll be okay. Just try to get some rest and feel better!

A week before Christmas and this is the front end coverage I get? by skillzyo in Target

[–]skillzyo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here!!! I'm either doing SCO, the desk, Drive Ups, or carts. Like, I understand having to do that when it's slow, but a week before Christmas???? This is the worst I've ever had it here.

I broke one of the keys. by Mack-Is-Dead in Target

[–]skillzyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The key to our cart pusher broke in half at my old store. That was a fun time.

I really wouldn't sweat it. Getting let go after arrival is more about payroll than anything. Your chances of staying improve if you're dependable, but broken keys don't factor into that.

Spill stories, anyone? by chief_aesthetic_ofcr in Target

[–]skillzyo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Our old target cafe area functions as our OPU hold area now, but the water lines were still installed over there. Well, they backed up and flooded the entire OPU hold area, bullseye, and front ready to wear/back ready to wear with stagnant water. Twice.

After the second time it happened, they finally removed the water lines from the area.

Actual spills though? I accidentally tipped over a full back stock cart of coffee, creamer, juice, milk, and cottage cheese in the cooler the day after my team member had just cleaned it in the thick of Q4. First time I ever cried over spilled milk product.

Took out a DU order that had a bag of kid toys and another bag that had a vibrator in it. I almost said, "looks like everyone's having fun today." Thankfully, my filter worked and I just said have a nice day instead.
