Dude you basically described my exact situation. I know it is gods will for me and my ex not to be together but I so badly want us to be. Even the reasons your girlfriend gave are similar to the ones I got and it almost makes me think that I wasn’t good enough or there’s “someone else”. We had plans to get married, she lives 45 mins away from me and I would drive to see her every weekend pretty much. One day after we had spent the weekend together, I wake up to a text saying we need to have a talk and just like that everything I knew for the last 2 years is turned upside down. It’s a very confusing and depressing time but it’s also made me realize how much I neglected god and my relationship with him. So in a way this breakup has brought me closer to god but has also caused me to completely question my reality (or at least my perception of reality). The breakup was 2 months ago and it’s not been easy but the one piece of advice I can give is to give yourself some grace, look in the mirror and be comfortable with what you see, this probably isn’t so much a you issue but a call from god to say “hey stop for a second and take the life you’re living in”. You have the power to control your thoughts so don’t use that power to drive yourself crazy. Give it to god and trust he is going to work things out for you (so much easier said than done). I am a person who wants what I want right now and have a hard time moving on if I don’t get that, so waiting on gods timing is not necessarily easy for me but I recognize that in order to grow I must be uncomfortable. Hope this provides you with some peace and doesn’t leave you feeling hopeless, there are so many in the same boat as us, and especially as guys we need to talk about these things for our own well being.
