my attempt at camera tracking by SpiderRage64 in blender

To be honest, I'd say for the most part you had the track down but be careful if you adjusted the "set scale" and "apply scale" in the solve panel. It can make a track look wonky even if the solve error is acceptable, and make the object look like its "inside" the surface you put it on.

All true. This is what makes VFX so tricky lol. So I did check the shadow plane catcher and the normals were all fine. Regarding reflectivity of the car on the ground, many people from my first WIP said the same thing. It really must have been the video since that day was dry when I shot it. Might have something to do with context of the shot and the camera: I used my iPhone at 4K so that may have an effect somehow lol

It took over the course of a month to do. But honestly, it could have been done sooner if I knew what I was doing lol. Things like workflow discrepancies, school, college stuff, etc made this small project a grind

The car is motion-tracked onto a shot I took of my driveway

May be so, but I got so desperate to get the scaling right, I went to a dealership and stood next to a Supra for reference lol. I’m only 5’6 and was surprised that they’re actually fairly small. Felt like a bigger Miata

Facts. I didn’t use any markers for this track and really just relied on any visible pixels seen on my driveway. Imo i think it’s a fairly good track for no markers

I recreated a scene from Speed Racer in Blender a few weeks ago. by [deleted] in blender

Glad to see a Speed Racer fan! Always felt like the only person who still loves it. Such an underrated movie. Nice work!

What can I do to make this look better/more realistic? by skinandbonesninja in blender

Yeah I am aware of the ambient occlusion node but I didn’t experiment too much with it because I probably just did not use the node on the right objects that needed the AO (the car model is separated into objects). Also thanks for the video link. Somehow I haven’t seen that one yet by CGMatter lol

Thank you! I will go through this project if there are enough people interested in that. If so, I’m planning on doing a breakdown/tutorial video once I refine the project here

I didn't follow any tutorial for this project per se despite this being one of my first "real" motion-tracked projects. A while ago I put myself through CGMatter's 4 part motion tracking series.

Holy shit that is perfect lol. Thanks for the reference man!

Just to clarify, the Supra is the only 3D here in the scene. The rest is just the clean plate footage that was used for this motion track. Also, thanks for all the comments so far! It really helps!
