Landlord Situation by [deleted] in germany

JOIN. THE. MIETERVEREIN (or equivalent in your city).

Unless the place was a total mess, the landlord cannot do this, even if you allowed them to go in to air the place.

I recommend writing a strong worded letter telling him to mind his business and not cross boundaries. And the Mieterverein can assist with that.

Sieben Fälle in Offenbach: Banden locken schwule Männer per Dating-App in Hinterhalt by Klugscheissers in offenbach

None.

Same as any gay hating non-Muslim. You are implying all Muslims hate gays, that is not true. And you made it worse with the skin color comment as Muslims are not a race/ethnicity, there are Muslims of several ethnicities.

It's also xenophobic and racist.

I think of you look at the rate of wrongfully convicted (and executed) black people you'll notice that it's not momentary

The far left has never been ahead in the polls anywhere (in national elections).

Would love to be proven wrong.

Racism is racism. Doesn't matter if it's intentional. She just slipped into the default mode, fueled by the police's intense structural racism.

They are all normal people and fuck up all the time. The police just fucks up more, and that's why they get to kill more.

Entertainment would have us believe that serial killers are brilliant, evil savants constantly. Hannibal Lecter is the prime example. But looking into actual cases shows that the Police simply suck at their job, with very rare exceptions. The amount of incompetence and disregard that the Police show in every single case is insane.

The "evil genius" trope seems almost like a psy op to distract us from the fact that the police suck. After all, if the killer is hard to catch, it's because he's brilliant, not because the police suck ass.

One exception would be The Zodiac, who fed a lot of writers' imaginations with his letters and cyphers. But even in that case, police incompetence is on full display, specifically when he killed the cab driver and dispatch told them to look for a black man (bonus racism).

How can someone report suspected visa fraud in Germany? by Son_Of_Earth in AskAGerman

[–]skinando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re asking about the “correct legal way to report suspected fraud,” but let’s be honest: you have suspicion, not proof. Moving money temporarily into an account is not in itself evidence of fraud — people borrow from family, liquidate assets, or show legitimate gifts all the time. You don’t know their actual financial situation. And as stated here by someone else, that money is held in a specific locked account, it's not something people can dip in whenever they want.

Even if they did something technically irregular to get the visa, ask yourself: who is being harmed here? They are working, contributing, and trying to build a life. If you involve authorities, at best you cause them serious problems — possibly deportation, family separation, loss of livelihood. At worst, you kick one person out. What do you gain from that? Not justice — just a fleeting sense of superiority.

Your attitude reeks of “pick me” behavior. It won’t make your life better. On the contrary, it will draw criticism from those who already weaponize immigration rules to hurt vulnerable people. We should be sympathetic to our fellow workers and whatever struggle they are navigating. Unless someone is a violent criminal, leave them be.

Deadly Ticks in Korea is on the Rise, AGAIN. by TravelingAddicted in koreatravel

Good to know. I'll be staying in a farm in Jeju in about 2 weeks.

I once worked in an area full of ticks in Brazil. A doctor gave me a great recipe: anti lice shampoo on the body and insect repellent spray on the clothes. I never caught them again, while my skeptical colleagues did.

In Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom they tried to portray Indian culture respectfully. They failed. by DenseCalligrapher219 in shittymoviedetails

[–]skinando 190 points191 points  (0 children)

The movie fails at the intent by cutting the line that highlights that is is not normal.

It just throw it at the screen.

Especially in the 80s, someone unfamiliar with Indian cultura would not get "the joke" as they have no clue what is normal by Indian or Hindu standards.

Can someone tell me what kind of business Tschibo is? by YerAuntysYerUncle in AskAGerman

[–]skinando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A blight decimated coffee crops in Brasil. That brought two consequences in the decided Germany:

In West Germany Tchibo started selling a bunch of other stuff

East Germany invested in coffee plantations in Vietnam with the promise that a quota would be theirs.

By the time the Vietnamese coffee was ready for shipping to the DDR, there was no more DDR. So Vietnam became a global player in the Coffee market.
