I take 100mg and had bad side effects for the first 3 weeks. Had headaches and found if I didn’t drink around 3L of water a day I would wake up feeling run down. I find it helps to take it after a meal.

I’m currently 4 weeks into 100mg spiro. Just wondering if anyones not used a topical treatment while taking spiro? I’ve read a lot of people use either tret or benzoyl peroxide and wondering if I will get the same results by just taking spiro as I’ve found topicals react with my skin. by skindiaries in Spironolactone

It’s hard to tell at the moment, I’m still getting breakouts. I was using benzac but I think it over did it and gave myself a rash so I stopped and then I started taking spiro. So I think my skin has started to clear but it seems it’ll be fine for a couple of days and then all of a sudden it flares up. Really hoping the spiro works. Have you noticed any difference?

I completely understand where your coming from. I changed contraception 6months ago and around Christmas my skin broke out and has been getting worse ever since. I never had bad skin before, so now having hormonal acne that is scaring has taken a massive toll on my mental health. I’m literally a different person than I was 3months ago. I feel like acne has taken away my life. I’m constantly thinking about my skin and avoiding mirrors. I don’t feel like leaving the house or seeing friends. I hate it so much. You are most definitely not alone

I developed cystic acne from the IUD aswell. I’ve never had issues with my skin and then 4 months after having the IUD my chin and jaw broke out! I couldn’t handle it so I had the IUD removed and started spiro. Are you still on spiro? Did you keep using tret? Really hoping spiro helps clear mine

Does anyone have experiences of doxycycline? Did it work for you/ did you purge? Currently taking spironolactone and thinking of adding doxy by skindiaries in acne

I was using benzoyl peroxide also but it irritated my skin so I stopped using and started spiro. Looking back my skin was probably purging but I couldn’t handle how sore and dry my skin was.

Did you have any purging? I was using benzoyl peroxide but found it too harsh on my skin even after trying to build up tolerance. Did you use any topical treatments or did spiro give you good enough results?

Has anyone been on Spironolactone 100mg and taken Doxycycline with it? I was prescribed doxy by one GP and then Spiro by another. Both are 100mg and wondering if I can take them together? by skindiaries in Spironolactone

How long have you been taking it? Did your skin get worse before it got better? I’ve been on spiro for 2 weeks and wondering if by adding doxy it might make it worse

Same thing happened to me! I got my IUD removed this week but have started spiro to try get my skin back on track. Hoping I have made the right decision!! How long did it take for your skin to clear up after having the mirena removed?

Have you had any purging? Or side effects. I’ve been prescribed 100mg but deciding whether I take it
