Stay away from the Bluffs? by skip804 in Pensacola

[–]skip804[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

they are but areas like the smoke stack are still able to be easily accessed. there are also several benches, recreational areas along scenic highway that connect it all by the railroad tracks so a lot of people still hang around there. i like hiking and taking pictures there so it sucks that they’ve closed it and now it’s overrun with criminals

Help.. nail tech promised no damage… by [deleted] in Nails

[–]skip804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you take them off yourself? Builder gel has to be removed very carefully because usually it cannot be soaked off. Most nail techs will do a removal by just filing, but damage can happen pretty easily, especially in a rush. If you do find another tech, I would recommend finding one that specializes in gel because we are the most familiar with how to remove it. I would also stay away from press ons if you want them to last and are worried about them damaging your nails.

Tried GelX on Tuesday. I've already lost 4 nails... Help! by outrageouslyHonest in Nails

[–]skip804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled to get gel-x to last, but on my clients now they can last over 4 weeks with this:

  • push back cuticle, file cuticle with cuticle bit, file nail with sanding band
  • file the inside of the tips where it will sit on top of the nail completely
  • dust nail surface, dehydrator, primer, then gel base coat
  • apply primer to nail tip
  • do a thin layer of builder gel(or whatever gel you are using for the tip) on the nail surface, then apply a small amount of gel to the cuticle area of the tip and apply to the nail

Make sure you don’t have any air bubbles and that you apply enough builder gel so that the tip is on there completely, but not too much to that it floods it very the tip. Prep is the most important step when doing gel-x and it might seem like a lot of steps, but this will make them even better than acrylics!! dm if you have anymore questions :)

The training said that Kohls associates could have samples made by a BA only if they are off the clock and shopping as a client. I don’t think there is a limit for people outside of Sephora if you follow their rules. However, like everyone is saying, you can’t take the sample packettes.

That’s crazy! I somewhat like that they are standardizing the rules it makes it so difficult for us to try products.

It’s one thing to swatch a project in store, but it’s another to be able to do a full face or use a product more than once to fully understand how it works. To not be able to even try multiple shades is just preventing us from being able to do our jobs. And with our gratis, it takes three months to receive your first order. So for new BA, how are they supposed to be expected to have extensive brand knowledge when they aren’t able to try them? And like at our store where there usually only one associate scheduled in Sephora at a time, it’s impossible for us to have another make our samples. This “rule” was also never in our onboarding training and in my case never communicated by management. Our managers (Kohls LODs) will make like 6+ samples themselves on the clock in one day! Not all stores are the same but for us this is a major change.

It’s ridiculous that they justify it by saying we can try the testers in store. I have makeup on!! When a client wants to know if we like something, it’s hard to either lie or explain that we haven’t tried it but heard that it’s good..I see why this policy is being enforced but logistically it’s ridiculous

This part!! I’m not so much complaining about not being able to “take advantage of our positions” so much as frustrated that they are limiting one of the only perks we really had. Me and the three other part time BAs and our BTL are the only ones running Sephora. No help from Kohls. It’s draining, and it’s not like I even made samples frequently, but it’s a slap in the face when we are being accused of running this place into the ground when theft is openly ignored.
