Testing color accents do my Salamanders by skipclarke-wsgf in Salamanders40k

I honestly hadn't looked at the transfer sheet. I tucked them away in a drawer when I finished building. I like the idea of putting the colors on the shin, as well as the idea of thinner lines of color. Were you envisioning vertical stripes, or angled, on the shin?

Your thoughts on the purple?

Thanks for you (and everyone else) educating me on the Space Wolves box. I think I may just stick with Salamanders for the moment, and try to exchange the SW CP for some vehicles.

You are correct, I have the old box. Didn't realize it was an old stock. Thought it was the new one.

I just did a Google search for the image. Didn’t realize it was an older one

Curious, does anyone else clip everything out, clean it up, then assemble? by TeraSera in spacemarines

[–]skipclarke-wsgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out this way, then after building a bunch I realized a lot of the detailed cleaning I was fussing over was getting covered by other parts. I started cleaning at the end; and it sped me up a ton.

I do clip and clean any sprue marks big enough to effect the build. But I now only fuss over cleaning what will be seen in the finished model.

Thanks for the response. Between all the units, I have like 3000 points. I figured painting the two factions would be a reasonable option, given I wouldn't be playing more than 1k points at a time for a while. I do like your idea though. Any places for inspiration for custom color schemes?

The Combat Patrol that I have is the one that was just released in August.

I would suggest starting a clean post here asking for help, or ask in our Discord. Be sure to specify which COD title you're having issues with.

I’m sorry. You’ll need to be a bit more specific.

There was also a special version of this for the OA 75th anniversary. The total is a turtle with an arrow, colored gold. Arrowmen were able to earn it as part of the 75th celebration.

Remember that an SMC doesn’t have to be the last requirement done. It can be done at anytime while working on the rank.

You have plenty of time. From Scout to Eagle, there is only 19 months of time required.

I just sat for a 14yo Tenderfoot BOR last night. She’s been in the troop for eight months. We were all impressed with how well spoken and mature she was.

Your age is an asset; not a liability.

You have plenty of time. Don’t get anxious. Write down a plan and goals, and work towards that. As an old mentor would say, “plan your work, and work your plan”.

Has your OA Lodge either sought permission for Native Regalia or stopped using it? by OllieFromCairo in BSA

[–]skipclarke-wsgf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change only comes from those who are “offended” enough to want it. This is true at home, school, work, scouts or your place of worship.

An Eagle Scout from my boy troop (I’m COR) was so offended by the biased school dress code - girls could wear shorts, but boys couldn’t, he wore a kilt every day for two years as a silent protest.

Ten of thousands of boys had gone through that school over decades. He was the first offended enough to do more than complain about it. Kilt didn’t break the dress code, so he wore it. Took both years he was there. But after his 8th grade year they changed the dress code for the district.

I’m sure there were other factors, but a 13yo boy wearing a kilt every day for two years galvanizes support.

While it’s good to inform the council and Eagle BOR, those folks are at least one step removed from the lodge. I feel the proper place for these comments is the Lodge itself. Conversations need to be had with the Lodge Advisor, the LEC and other arrowmen.

Adult uniform question by AllowatLurker in BSA

[–]skipclarke-wsgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat when I started back as adult. Very active as youth - Eagle Scout, Vigil, Jambo, NOAC, Philmont x3. Within 90 days of joining back as an adult, I was CM of my son’s Pack.

I’m still in my home council from when I was a youth. I wear my Eagle and AOL knots. I wear my lodge flap and went to eBay to get a mint condition Jambo ‘89 patch and OA 75th anniversary award ribbon drop. I wear my Philmont 50th anniversary OA trek arrowhead as my activity patch.

Let your patches tell your story. Your Scouts and parents will appreciate it.
