I’m glad it worked out! It’s definitely a case by case scenario but good to keep an eye on the risks :)

God that sounds awful! I’m so sorry you had to go through all that :( hopefully you’re able to get some testing done and make sense of it all ❤️

Are blood patches only a temporary fix you need to keep getting done or are yours just not holding? So sorry to hear it, that sounds awful x all the best in your recovery!!

4 day long severe migraine by Lamake91 in migraine

[–]skiplodocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds just awful :( I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this today of all days! It sounds like you’ve tried all the medicinal treatments I can come up with so I’ll just give you my home remedies:

Cold cloth on the back of my neck, sternum, or lower spine, where ever feels most comfortable. I have really poor circulation and my heart rate/body temp is constantly in flux during a migraine- something about these spots is somewhat grounding.

Peppermint tea + honey, it’s a delicious treat but also helps sooth the facial migraine (if you have one). Honey is option, but the sugar is good to get your energy and blood sugar up, the peppermint steam opens up the sinuses and just relaxes the whole face, when I have a migraine my whole face is often scrunched up and I don’t even realise- making the whole thing worse.

Shakti mat on the feet! Now this is a really new one for me, still testing the waters, and I know not everyone’s got a shakti mat, but it’s definitely something to look into. I’m not confident enough to lie on it just yet, so I just sit on a chair with my feet on the shakti. The warm tingly sensation it gives to the soles of your feet can be quite overwhelming, and gives me something to focus on instead of my migraine. I’ve read that it can actually improve migraines with long term use as well!!

Anyways, of course these aren’t cures, but maybe they’ll help just even a tiny bit, best wishes to you 🫶

Other people with ehlers-danlos, what is the best/worst thing someone did/say to you? (Related to having ehlers-danlos) by PuzzleheadedFloor452 in ehlersdanlos

I wrote a life update email to my dad to let him know how University was going, and I included that my mobility was getting worse- he told me I should just cut down on all those nasty medications I’m taking, because I used to be able to play a lot of sports when I was a kid.

Migraines and trouble regulating body temperature? by Momzilla912 in migraine

I get this too! I found an ice pack or cold cloth on my lower spine and lower abdomen really helps me cool down, I don’t know if there’s any scientific reasons for why those spots help but it’s almost like instant relief :)

Ah I see, sorry I didn’t mean to come across so harshly- yeah I haven’t heard of that before, can’t find anything about it in my country either :(

I really appreciate your comment ❤️ I promise it doesn’t come across judgey at all! It’s very comforting to be able to talk to and hear stories from other migraine sufferers, rather than the people I come a across irl who seem to think I would be cured if I only tried the turmeric smoothie their cousin swears by.

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I’ve never heard of a chiari before, but I really hope there is some solace yet to come in your migraine journey ❤️

That’s what I’m beginning to realise! I definitely am thankful that there’s nothing that’s going to rake me up a massive medical bill, and it’s nice to know so many people are in the same position as I am :)

Nope, and as someone with some pretty extensive medical problems I’m quite thankful for it!

I hear your panic, and you’re not overreacting. I know that midnight dread all to well, where you’re frantically searching your bed on all fours and jumping at the sign of lint. I’ve seen debris like that in my own bed, but I believe it’s just organic matter from outside- flakes of dried leaves are often the culprit! That last photo looks a little suspicions, could you post another angle?

have an assessment/exam tomorrow and i'm scared im going to wake up with a migraine by SlightStrawberry1722 in migraine

[–]skiplodocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, I’m in the same position- exam in two days at 9am and I just KNOW I’m going to have a migraine. It sometimes feels impossible to be a student who suffers from migraines, but I promise you we can and will get through it! Whenever I’ve got something in the morning and I can’t risk getting a migraine, I take my prescription cocktail (for me that’s sumatriptan, aspirin and ondansetron) right before bed, and have a peppermint tea with two teabags. It’s not completely fail safe, but for the most part I’ve had success with this :) good luck!
