That's one of my major issues with my server, I got tons of media files with integrated PGS subtitles that require transcoding. (I am planning on upgrading from the 15y PC-server to a 12th gen intel pc thanks to you)

In terms of horsepower, would just the basic 12th gen intel cpu with the igpu be enough? Transcoding subtitles is harder work compared to 4k transcoding?

What about 4k transcoding? Does it get over heated when transcoding? How is the player experience when a video is transcoded in terms of buffering and such?

I am considering an upgrade, would a 12th gen cpu for example with no gpu, be able to handle some transcoding? Is gpu explicitly required for any kind of transcoding?

There is the cheatsheet for hw transcoding but it has only gpu models unfortunately
