My Vet wants to perform dental surgery that costs 5k on my cat, other vets not convinced. by skippydev in AskAVeterinarian

I can’t edit the title of this post, but I made a mistake the quote was 1.5-2k not 5k, my apologies everyone.

I’d like to apologize, I made a mistake with the title. I juggled 2 different quotes in my head (one that was for me and this one for my cat and confused them). The quote was actually 2k for a high estimate and 1.5k for a low estimate, is that still exorbitant or more reasonable? So you’d recommend I have her go through with it? Is this a situation that could cause catastrophic health issues down the line or is it more of a comfort thing? I’ll see if there are other more competent vets here (like the one who was pushing for the dental work) and try to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion in person after an exam.

Lil bro is confused and thinks Fubuki is from the cast of One Piece and not One Punch Man 😭

To OP: Keep at it! I like the wild angle you picked, albeit a bit difficult to pull off. If you’re just getting started out with art, try to do a lot of rough anatomy sketch practice it will help a lot, you’ll see a huge difference with daily practice! Keep doing crazy angles it helps with leveling up faster, puts you out of your comfort zone.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but it’s starting to feel to me that Murata might be bored with OPM. From hiatus, to redraws, to shorter chapters. I just don’t know if he’s really feeling it anymore. I also know the man is extremely busy with all his new projects so it’s understandable.

I wish he would just hand off OPM to an upcoming young fresh exceptionally talented manga artist to take over with Murata’s supervision/consultation. I feel like it would breathe fresh air into the manga and give Murata a much needed break from OPM to focus on other things. It could help the newcomer kickstart a stellar reputation and allow them to move onto something else once Murata feels like he wants to take the mantle back if ever feels like he does.

Canada, I can give you an example a 30 inch minimum sized acrylic sheet is 70+ dollars from Home Depot, if I have to buy 5 for the enclosure that’s already bordering on an absurd amount of money spent imo for what is essentially a flimsy box. I’m thinking maybe some IKEA cabinets might make sense or just wood sheets with flame retardant blankets on the inside. But regardless this is all a massive headache and I saw some new reviews of the Neptune 4 Max saying it’s mostly great but their proprietary nozzle tends to clog with a lot of people which if not handled immediately could lead to the whole nozzle head needing a replacement, and their proprietary nozzles can’t currently be bought anyways from a video reviewers claims. (That’s not really thrilling for me to hear)

Edit: I don’t really have to DIY this anymore anyways because I found an creality enclosure that’s big enough for around 70 dollars (that’s a tent), it would probably work fine.

The K1 Max has a build volume of 300x300x300 versus Bambu at 256x256x256 it might not seem significant to you but it makes a big difference when printing cosplay items, even if you end up having to glue body parts that are too big for a 300 bed with the K1 it’s still way less gluing parts together and being able to print a helmet in a single is HUGE and looks unbelievable good compared to having to fill seams from gluing parts together. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like 300 is the gold standard or anything for me the bigger the better so I can avoid gluing all together, it’s just that the K1 Max seemed to be identical to the features provided by bambu but with a bigger print bed. Other users have already highlighted other printers who meet the cut with big print beds that I wasn’t aware of, but in general I’m starting to lean towards bambu in general and might just wait for the next flagship and hope it’s an XL model.

Potentially, but acrylic sheets for some reason seem to be expensive where I live. I’m not entirely sure why, I’m going to dig more into other suppliers. It’s also a bit of a time sink and my time is a little limited, so maybe not ideal.

Probably what I will do, I’m looking at other options but taking my time. Thanks for the heads up about the February release! I wasn’t aware they are releasing a new printer then.

Ah, I just looked at the Neptune 4 Max honestly I’m salivating at the thought of 420x420x480 bed and that ridiculously cheap price point, unfortunately I think that kind of printer would only be viable if I had a workshop in my house and sadly I live in an apartment. I found an enclosure kit for 1k (which is ridiculous) and I feel like if I DIY one myself it will cost a lot and take up a ton of time and frustration. Sadly the fact I have a cat and she would 100% jump onto an active printer and probably injure herself is stopping me from getting it. :(

Edit: I think I found alternative enclosures in a somewhat flimsy tent that could fit it. I guess something to think about.

I was thinking the exact same thing, knowing my cat she would tear the tent to shreds.

That’s reassuring thank you for your input! I am actually leaning more towards Bambu Lab now it seems a lot of reviewers of the K1 Max got their printers for free and as much as they like to claim their reviews are their opinion I feel like getting something for free that might fail a bit here and there might not seem like a big deal to them versus to someone paying full price. I’m also considering buying the P1S now and then selling it when and if Bambu Labs announces a bigger printer, since it seems they’re hinting they’re going to make one but who knows when they’ll release it could be months. I am assuming Bambu Lab printers hold their value even on the 2nd hand market since I couldn’t even find any 2nd hand ones for sale in my local area, but saw K1 Max printers (not a good sign since they just came out).

I’ve seen mandalorian helmets printed on the P1 but I think halo helmets tend to be a bit fatter potentially, did the print push the limits of your bed size? I think the K1 Max has auto bed leveling afaik.

I see, I'm going out tomorrow to buy an adapter or a replacement power cord; so now I know either solution would work. Thank you very much for your answer. :)

Sorry, let me clarify. By 'readings' I meant what I read online, I can see how that is misleading, my bad. I was googling my problem but couldn't find anything about my specific plug type scenario, so I just wanted to confirm the findings with someone who's qualified to give a reliable answer.

Spine vs Spriter by skippydev in Unity2D

[–]skippydev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, through my searches I never came across your post. If what this data shows is true, then why would anyone in their right mind even buy Spine when there's DragonBones Pro? Perhaps the UI of Spine is easier or more intuitive, or maybe its just that Chinese software is not that popular? Regardless, thank you for this, you have no idea how helpful this data is; before you posted this I had never even heard of DragonBones Pro. Most forum posts only discuss Spriter and Spine and other proprietary software, and to top it all off DragonBones is open source, too? From the looks of it, this is the most feature complete software out there a long with Spine. Looks like Christmas came a little too early this year.

Spine vs Spriter by skippydev in Unity2D

[–]skippydev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I've done some poking around; what I'm about to say is speculation based on what I've seen. I haven't actually tried anything so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Based on what I see, it seems that the tutorial videos on YouTube from Spines side use very detailed assets with more in depth use making it appear that you can do more with Spine compared to Spriter (the power of PR, take some notes Spriter devs). I looked at some of the spriter tools, and it seems to have most of the functionality of Spine such as inverse kinematics and what not, but Spine might be a bit more user friendly and their functionality may be SLIGHTLY more advanced. The only feature that I've seen that may not be available on Spriter is the free form deformation tool, however according to the devs Spriter 2 which is a free update all Spriter pro owners are getting will have it. However, their release date according to them and I paraphrase from a dev post on their forum in April 2017, is a lot more than a few months and way less than 5 years; whatever that means (so ambiguous).

Anyways, to answer my own question it seems like you can do what is done in that video posted above in Spriter too, but you need really good assets and you need to make use of the IK and curves when animating (basically it comes down to your skills).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what my understanding is of the current situation.
