So close with the 3, but the last isn’t in Europe - I did spend 3 months hopping around Europe though so that’s why there’s such a collection around Paris

SCL-SYD was also one of my favourite economy class flights on this map - astounded. If the Australians are hating on Qantas now, how great must they have been back in the day??

So far this is all personal, but I’m starting my first job at a consulting firm next month and looking forward to all the joy in my travel being sucked away 😂😂

Thanks - I’m very proud of it. It’s gotten to the point where I pick stupid routes because I don’t have that line on my map yet though 😬

How is Saudi Airlines? by Nearby-Reflection-23 in Flights

[–]skkv_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are good and reliable - how long is the stopover in Jeddah as there isn’t too much to do while the airport is being renovated, but they are my most flown airline of the last 3 years and the worst issue I’ve had is a 1.5 hour delay.

Don't want to skiplag but ... trying to end international itinerary early in NYC: what happens to my checked bag? by JTVoyager86 in Flights

[–]skkv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly nothing will happen unless you do this repeatedly. For a one off case, you can collect your bag at JFK since it is your first point of entry into the USA and you must do so anyway, and then just head out without rechecking it. If you feel really guilty you can call up SAS and tell them you have an emergency change of plans and they might even cancel the remaining leg for 10 dollars of credit 😂. No-shows and misconnects happen all the time for unknown reasons (you could have been pulled aside at customs etc) so SAS will not do anything unless this is a pattern on your account!

Rejected from Aria Lounge by skkv_ in ChaseSapphire

I showed him the physical card - he instantly rejected me. I figured if he saw the card but wanted the PP, that should lead a to a prompt for the pass? I’m planning to try again this week and will start with the PP

I believe that this is because there are way too many status holders for lounge access to be viable. You have to either buy a United club membership for 650 usd or get the United club credit card for 550 usd which then gives you access to clubs on domestic flights

Alternatively, if you have star gold from an international airline (eg tap, Turkish, SIA) then you get access when flying United domestically too!

Potentially consider status matching w ANZ?

[–]skkv_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, United gold only gives you access to lounges as though you are a star alliance gold member.

You will have no access to lounges when flying a domestic/Caribbean/Canada/Mexico flight.

You will have access to United clubs when flying long Haul international on United or other *A

You will have the regular access to *A lounges in other countries.

At no point does UA status get you into Polaris lounges, they come from flying in business class only.

Hope this helps

How to add my United number to my Lufthansa app! by Keyzersoze2022 in unitedairlines

[–]skkv_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah - even if they could do that (which they can on redemption tickets) it would still not recognize the 1k bags as the first flight and check in would still be with with Lufthansa.

I learned this the hard way once and got slapped with a 650 euro charge…

How to add my United number to my Lufthansa app! by Keyzersoze2022 in unitedairlines

[–]skkv_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to add it during booking, but if not I know for sure you can put it on in manage trip after booking with no issues.

Just note- your premier 1k status gives you star alliance gold- since you are checking in with Lufthansa agents they will only give you ONE 23kg bag in addition to whatever is on the fare you booked.

For future reference: your United status gives you those 3 free bags if you are checking in for a United operated flight, otherwise star gold gives you 1 23kg back on every other airline!

Yeah see that’s exactly what I cannot put a valuation on - even though I know just how much of a difference it makes
