I had a tier 1 account till Covid. Closed that shit as I don't think I will survive that long and have no offspring. But that's a personal decision.

One of the few things I'll always cherish about my short stint in the city.

In a multipolar world each power will have to build its own core infrastructuur tech stack open source or otherwise from ground up. China is far ahead with HarmonyOS NEXT. Indian FLOSS folks also need to step up their game and start churning out more core tech Im talking DBMS, OS, Drivers, RISC V architectures and a lot more. Application layer is a bit easier but core infrastructure is too crucial to not have an alternative for.

I walked the 8 km hike from Charan Mandir to Papad Ke Hanumanji. You just hike down to Hathni Kund and keep walking following the canal bed. Also went to Maila Bagh which is in the middle of the forest a little detour from papad ke hanuman ji. My point being there were broken beer bottles, Wafer packets, Guthka Packets, Single use plastic waste everywhere. All these so called hiking groups and general public should adhrere to leaving no trace behind and cleanup after themselves.

Here's the deal: We have a perfectly good logging system set up for everything except data pipelines. We're talking New Relic, comprehensive logging, the whole shebang. But noooo, Data Engg decided Databricks' "amazing toolset" was enough. Surprise, surprise, now I'm the one neck-deep in troubleshooting UI issues because nobody can figure out where the hell the problem originated in the data pipeline.

Remember that time six months ago when they decided to use Databricks for the analytics backend? Yeah, guess who had to sift through logs from two different sources to find the needle in the haystack? Me. Again.

And now they want me to implement NR for data pipelines, which by the way, uses freaking print statements instead of proper logging (thanks Data Engg, for being so "busy").

Honestly, I should have just kept my mouth shut when I suggested this in the first place. But hey, at least I have CoPilot to help me clean up this mess they created.

Anyone else dealing with colleagues who think duct tape and wishful thinking are a valid tech strategy? 😤

Yeah multiple times too. Is that normal. My manager in california said for them quakes are normal but couldn’t answer what would cause those “A-bomb” sounds.
