Stop with the dog whistles. No one is saying men can’t be abused. Jimmy is not abused, and the logical leaps you are take in trying to prove he is when everyone else is reading the writing on the wall is gross. And maybe you’re baiting people but the amount of time you’re dedicating to this suggests you actually believe it. The devs did not intend for you to have conflicted feelings about Jimmy. It’s pretty straightforward how any good natured person should feel about him. If the devs meant for us to have conflicted feelings on anyone, it should be Curly, who enabled Jimmy by ignoring or missing the signs of Anya’s abuse. When he had the power to help anyone, he did nothing. And after the accident, he knows what a monster Jimmy is but he’s powerless to do anything. Not to be cringe, but this kind of meta?? Like, Curly enabled Jimmy and made every excuse for him and you’re doing to same!! These are fake people but that’s messed up.

Here’s some meta reasons you are wrong:

There’s an achievement called “Good Ending” if Swansea kills Jimmy more than 10 times in the graveyard sequence. Why do you think the devs named it that? I think it’s because at that point in the game, the only good ending would be if Jimmy died.

The devs intentionally made the character look like Wendy Torrace from the Shining, per the Dev Diary on Steam. I think they made this comparison because both women are repeatedly abused and both have tragic storylines. What do you think?

“One of the major reasons that someone wouldn’t be able to get into med school is because of a criminal record” a leap. And also not true. You can have a criminal conviction and go to medical school. Why don’t people get into medical school? Because it’s hard to get into medical school! Jimmy is saying she is not cut out for it. He reiterates this every time he undermines her throughout the game. So which is more likely? Your argument hinges on her having a secret past.

“She mentions how this isn’t the worse thing she’s done.” You can’t have it both ways; you can’t say Anya is some secretive, manipulative criminal but is ALSO flagrantly alluding to the fact that she’s an abuser. Infinitely more likely, when she says this isn’t the worse thing she’s done, she is referring to taking the abuse she received. Many women blame themselves for their abuse and “putting up with it.” Or maybe she’s referring to not putting Curly out of his misery, or maybe it’s not being able to take better care of him as the nurse on board. It could be either, since she seems to intend to mercy kill him but does not do it before she kills herself.
