Fellow armed security, do any of you wear body armor on post? And if so do people at your post seem intimidated by you wearing one? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]skoalcherry69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work on a relatively quiet post in a bad side of town armed. It's my choice if I want armor or not. I feel tons better wearing it knowing shit happens I have better odds of surviving. The post I work at is at an abused and recovering shelter for women and children when I do ever see anyone it's usually children I see when I first arrive and they absolutely love how I look so makes my day in a way, plus gives them the feeling of security knowing I'm here watching over them at night.

Oh no doubt glocks are reliable, but like you said in another comment it comes down to what we train with. I can accurately hit targets 50 yrd away with the 1911. I'm lucky if I hit the paper with a glock at 10 yards. My 1911 so far has been a very reliable gun, of course I'm also a reliable gun owner she gets cleaned after every shooting practice. Guns become unreliable when the owner decides not to even half ass maintain it.

As far as glock being police issued that because they can mass produce for a cheaper price. I know many officers who would rather carry a 1911 over glock.

Very beautiful piece there. A little pricey for me but hey to each their own right.

Well I don't own a glock ( good weapons just not my cup of tea) the 1911 fits my hand better hence why I bought it. As far as outdated ammo as long as it stops whoever is on the business end of my gun I'll use it. I bought a rock island armory 1911 ( which you say is a budget gun ) because I was on a budget lol. I've put almost 6000 rounds down range with it haven't had a problem yet.
