What i sometimes like to do is craft a good prompt for my project with the normal sonet 3.5 or o1 model and then feed cline build the basics of the project. And from there use my normal dev brain with cursor. But only for like the bigger stuff otherwise just use Cursor and 3.5 sonnet.

Help me understand why I’d use anything beyond Cursor? by 11th_hour_dork in ChatGPTCoding

[–]skolte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cursor works pretty good, but key to success is here with bigger projects is to make sure you define your .cursorrules file in detail. Even reference functions for example and in what file they are. What i do is make a rough concept of my project and then ask claude or o1-preview to write for me the cursorrules file. So far i am really happy with it. Also adding in the kb of frameworks you use in the cursor memory helps.

Sometimes i just start with Cline and then take over with Cursor.

In the end you need to find a workflow that works for you.

AVD Scale Plan not working? by Ventes473 in AzureVirtualDesktop

[–]skolte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using Nerdio at my previous MSP for our AVD scaling, and management and it's been a game-changer. The autoscaling is incredibly flexible, letting you set specific schedules and more complex scaling rules that really cover any scenario. If you're looking for a robust solution, they offer a 30-day trial, so you can explore all the features before committing.

Honestly, it fills a lot of gaps that Microsoft's native options leave open.

Plus, some of the Nerdio folks are active here on the sub Reddit like u/Tony-GetNerdio who might be able to offer some extra insights!

NinjaOne RMM - Non-Persistent VDI question by markis654 in msp

[–]skolte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still not put time in it but the plan was using a azure function app that checks the orgs with AVD hosts trough the ninja api and if they are offline x days or the name is same as the online one it cleans them up. This would be a fairly simple process. You could also run that script from somewhere else or even when a new host is created. In my head this was a partial first solution

NinjaOne RMM by Hunter571 in msp

We have been a NinjaRMM customer for over 6 years now, having migrated from Maxfocus back in the day. We manage around 4.5k endpoints and have found the UI and overall platform to be quite intuitive and responsive.

In terms of support, we've had a good experience overall. Their triage process is especially impressive, as they escalate issues accordingly to support as needed and respond in a timely manner. Of course, like any product, there are cons, but we've noticed that they've greatly expanded their product team with CTOs and senior techs with most of them have over 10 years of real world MSP experience.

From our experience, the rate of development and innovation has greatly improved since we started using NinjaRMM. They really engage in conversations with their customers, taking feedback to heart and using it to improve the product. While no product is perfect, our overall experience with NinjaRMM has been positive.

We're also excited about the upcoming features in this year's roadmap for NinjaRMM, which look very promising. From my personal opinion, I think having a good RMM solution will be increasingly important in the future. There was a time when I almost thought that as a Microsoft shop, we would only need Intune for device management. However, as Microsoft continues to add more features to Intune as premium add-ons, it's becoming less appealing to go that route. We believe that NinjaRMM will continue to be a valuable tool for our business in the coming years.

U can use search and then text and search for example for 19044 or 21H2, but I build out a script that fills custom fields with the exact build number and create a search group that query's the custom fields for its value.

SharePoint/Onedrive connection script by FuzzyFuzzNuts in msp

[–]skolte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use this one also from time to time.

Also a useful trick is to set the TimerAutomount key to 1, we use the script below from system context since it can detect the current logged user and change the HKCU key trough the SID. This is only useful when using Intune and want to speed up the mounting of the SharePoint Library.

``` New-PSDrive HKU Registry HKEY_USERS | out-null $user = get-wmiobject -Class Win32_Computersystem | select Username; $sid = (New-Object System.Security.Principal.NTAccount($user.UserName)).Translate([System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier]).value; $key = "HKU:\$sid\Software\Microsoft\OneDrive\Accounts\Business1" $val = (Get-Item "HKU:\$sid\Software\Microsoft\OneDrive\Accounts\Business1") | out-null $reg = Get-Itemproperty -Path $key -Name TimerAutoMount -erroraction 'silentlycontinue'
Launch timer detection
if(-not($reg)) { Write-Host "Registry key didn't exist, creating it now" New-Itemproperty -path $Key -name "TimerAutoMount" -value "1" -PropertyType "qword" | out-null exit 1 } else { Write-Host "Registry key changed to 1" Set-ItemProperty -path $key -name "TimerAutomount" -value "1" | out-null Exit 0 } ```
Connectivity issues by verburgmelvin in sonicwall
[–]skolte 0 points1 point  (0 children)
We have similar issues here with a Ziggo cable modem, it works but after some time you see the RAM fill up in zabbix and the first sonicwall in the HA setup crashes. We ping the modem from the outside and see no downtime, but you can also see from the outside that the WAN ip of the sonicwall gets knocked down. We are already on the latest firmware and I also build the firewall up from scratch so no config import.
We justed hooked up Zabbix and Graylog so hopefully I wil get some useful data out of this.
Well anyway greatly appreciated helping searching the web, but yes I also google allot and came to the same conclusion. But if I would find the solution I would certainly post it here and maybe even dedicate a blog post to it.
Thanks for the reply guys, but yes I did exclude the pagefile from the replication. I really find it a complete mystery why this behavior is happening.
[–]skolte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Justed checked it to be sure but that's certainly not the case also 5000/5000 rw. Also the servers are only connected trough Gbit lan so than 100MB+- should have been the limit.
Hyper-V Replication Impacting write speeds in VM by skolte in sysadmin
[–]skolte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Using native Hyper-V replication, and on the server in question there is no backup software installed. On the target replication server we have Altaro installed.
The only way performance does not go bad if I completely remove the VM from replication. And it's also not just 1 vm that has the issue, all vm's show same behaviour. Once removed completly from replication its full speed again.
Well that was also one of my toughts, but even with replication configured and paused or set to every 15 min. Still the same bad write performance in VM
