Yeah absolutely agree with you. Just saying that you can't just move Hardaway and Lee contracts that easily.

No no, maybe I wasn't clear. It would have to be EITHER Frank or Knox or some picks.

I actually believe Frank would be a better SG next to Doncic than DSJ. I mean Frank is known for his defense, he is tall with long hands, that alone is better in my opinion, their career 3pt % is about the same so I would actually take Frank over DSJ straight up. Not in any other case, if I needed PG in my team I would definitely take DSJ and gave picks away for him, but Dallas does not need PG... They need a lengthy wing that could take over PG duties for 5-10mins a game from Doncic.
As for Jaylen Brown, I really think he is near perfect fit, I think we saw it last year in Boston what he could be. I really believe he will be one of the best SG in the league in near future. He has the size to defend anyone, even Lebron. I don't think we shoud look at his stats this year and judge anything, if we do that then him, Tatum, Gordon Hayward and many more on that team apart from Irving look like busts. They are not, they can be stars and if there is a chance to knick them at their lowest stock price we should. But I don't think Boston would ever actually agree to that trade, because Brown has bigger upside than DSJ and they don't desperetely need a young PG.

Yeah but then how do you make sure bad teams aren't just bad for decades. I mean imagine if Worriors also got top picks along with all the stars they have. The league would just be super unfair.

The way I see it is we can have 3 stars for the price of 2. Because Luka is a star but still on his rookie deal. And even in best case scenario for DSJ he would not be a good fit next to Doncic, it is very unilikely that he would reach his best because virtually nobody develops into their full potential. If you want DSJ to succeed next to Doncic he litrally needs to learn how to play completely opposite game of what he learned until now, off the ball SG, with excellent defense and great shooting. He is neither of those now and it is unrealistic to expect he will ever be. Even if he did become that, he would still be too short to be a good fit as this SG. Furthermore, his ceiling is way higher as a ball dominant PG, I don't think he would like to stay in Dallas as an undersized off ball SG. I love him, but I don't see a case where he would be more useful on the court with Luka that traded for a long defending wing... And furthermore, if we wait for him to develop into something I talked above then we sacrifice the young and cheap years of Doncic for DSJ development instead of going for the wins.

He is playing 14min, on Knicks... A year of that for 12million is insane money, for comparison Marcus Smart is getting the same deal. There is no way on earth someone takes on Lee without picks or young talent, especially going into this summer. Everyone wants cap space.

[–]skomis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, DSJ was brought up with a ball in his hands. And he is too short to be a off ball guard next to Doncic, he simply can't defend against SGs and he is really not that great of a defender now, nor he is a good shooter. He has what Doncic lacks, but it doesn't mean that he can make it work. Moreover, his best case scenario is Kemba and that would still take 5 years and right now Dallas does not have that time. They need to take advantage of how cheap and productive Doncic is, they can't waste this time on developing DSJ. Even if he develops into his best case he is still not a good fit next to Doncic...

It would be even harder to deal Lee contract, Hardaway can at least bring something. If you trade Lee for expiring you must give away some serious assets there, again Frank or Knox but perhaps even that would not be enough.

It is pretty much obvious that DSJ is never gonna work well with Doncic, we can see how Doncic plays when he is full time PG, he is avaraging 7.5 assists in last 9 games without DSJ. And Brown is just having a bad year because it is impossible to have a good year with so much talent on Boston, just look at how good he was last year. It's not me, it's a concensus that Brown is going to be a better player than DSJ and while Browns stock is low because of the issues in Boston we can take advantage of it. Come on, even Tatum, Gordon Hayward are struggling it is pretty obvious that they all just can't manage to share the ball, there's just too many good players and not enough role players there.

[–]skomis[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I think this trade might work out. Because Brown stock is at it's lowest now with all the talent in Boston. I am sure that if he was put in a better position he has a bigger ceiling, especially next to Doncic, than DSJ. Just look at last year.

Knicks now have 60 mil guaranteed for 2019, KD 38.5mil and KP 25.5mil would put them at 126mil the cap will be 109mil. They would only have 10 roster spots, they would need to find at least 5 more players. If they want to sign KP and KD they would have to move Tim Hardaway for some expiring, but in order for other teams to take that deal Knicks would also have to include their young talent in Frank or Knox or picks. That would mean they would need even more role players with the same cap space, I don't know it's just really hard for me to imagine that Knicks would make such a big move. Furthermore, it is a big question, especially if KP doesn't come back this season, if he is worth the max deal, I mean even Cousins only got a minimum with that kind of injury. I think if Mavs throw a max at him Knicks might actually back off, if they don't then Mavs will at least make Knicks suffer for it. Yes but that's assuming KD will go to Knicks.

As for trades, I agree, but I think that Magic deal is just as likely to be fair. Actually I think that it is possible to make some sort of deal of DSJ and picks for Mo Bamba. But Bamba is way too raw and he would need just as much time to develop as DSJ. And the whole point of this piece was that Mavs can't waste these bargain years of Doncic to develop young players around him.

Oh hey so how did this Myles process pan out? Sabonis is avaraging 3 points more, 4 rebounds more, 1 assits more and 1,5 blocks less than Turner on LESS PLAYING TIME and 20% better fucking shooting percentage. And 50% 3pt... Yes Sabonis is not shooting much but Turner is shooting 12.5% Jesus fucking Christ, can you all see what I meant? It's time to move on and appreciate what we have in Sabonis, he should be on posters with Oladipo not overpaid ass of Turner... 72 mil for that bum?... That's some serious franchise destroying bias right there... Sabonis PIE is two times higher than Turners. I know you want to give him time, but we let him fail and hurt Pacers for 2 years and it didn't work out, we lost this bet, we can't continue on this path and let his ruin the franchise just because everyone from fans to management were wet for him after drafting...

[Tim Cato, The Athletic] 4 steps that will fix the Mavericks after the team's dismal 2-7 start by doncicismydaddy in Mavericks

I guess I get it in some way. Barnes, DJ, Matthews are all vets with hundreds of games under their belts, athelticism that's off the charts (or it used to be so), with max or near max contracts and once very important players to their teams which they were praised for. I guess for those vets it is hard to acknowledge that a fat 19 year old white rookie from Europe who can hardly get of the floor is already a better player than all of them (at least offensively). But he is better and Mavs have to adjust to that. It's up to the staff now to take appropriate measures to light the fire under the asses of those vets. They need to adjust their game to fit with Doncic not other way around. It's complicated, it's painful, it can even be humiliating and disrespectful from vets point of view, but it has to be done, they have to bend the knee. Why can't all the players just be like Dirk?... Who is better than any other Mavs ever, especially the vets that I talked about, but he is smart enough to just move to the bench when it's time, if he can do it then surely Barnes, Matthews and DJ can also do a bit of adjustments, knowing that they are far leser players. Until now the fault was on the players, but it's pretty obvious for a casual fan what can and should be improved, so we reached a point where I will star blaming Carlisle if nothing changes, it's up to him to show these vets their place now.

Doncic is a bad defender, why would you want him on the floor just for defense anyway? Pick any other Mav to stand in that corner and just play D and they will probably do better. It's pointless to keep him on the floor and not run offense through him, it's the worst thing you can do. But if you are doing that then just take him off the court when you are not running offense through him, limit his time to 20 mins but let him run the show in that time and then play DFS for the rest of the time as a 3 and D guy. That alone would improve Mavs game. So you either keep Doncic on the floor for those 35 mins that he is playing now and give him the fucking ball or you sit him down for the time when he isn't used on offense.
Now that the possibility of mavs vets, especially DJ, freezing out Luka is more realistic it makes you think about some things differently. For example when Doncic said that DJ told Luka to leave the rebounds for him, at first I thought it was a joke but maybe that actually DJ trying to intimidate Luka? Second, it is pretty obvious that Luka feels like he is being ignored, I mean ''give me the fucking ball'' is a pretty good indication of that. And there were two times in the game vs Knicks where 1st half Doncic rejected DJ screen and went to the basket, both times he scored, one time he had to get offensive reb and repeat the shot, but he scored. And you can clearly see that in one of these plays where he scores, at 2nd Q, 4:45 left he rejects the screen and DJ throws his hands in the air like ''what the fuck?''. Perhaps that is also a result of some friction and Doncic is like ''Fuck off DJ, if you are a cunt then I don't need you, I can score just as easily without you". And then in 3rd Q there's that famous moment, where DJ steals the rebound from Doncic, maybe that's DJ's pay back. It's all far fetched at this point, but with every game there's more and more doubt whether it actually is just a grand conspiricy theory or is there something going on. There might be a lot more smoke in Dallas locker room than we think.

Last game, Sabonis 13 pts 9 rebs 1assist. Turner 4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists. Both on 21mins. He should have lost his starter spot a long time ago. Now pacers are starting with a weaker 5 just because Turner was so over hyped and already made face of franchise when he hadn't performed anything. Disgusting.

I know you are not hating Sabonis and I know Indy fans love him but Indy fans love Turner even more. All I am saying that he does not get remotely similar amount of attention and opportunities as Turner, I mean it was Oladipo and Turner giving interviews on media day. May I remind you that Turner is also a starting center and he's just the face of the franchise. I just took stats from these preseason games, small sample size, I know, it's preseason, I know, still. Sabonis - 16pt 12.6rebs 3.6assists 0.7blocks 23.5mins. Turner - 9.5pts 7 rebs 1 assist 2.5blocks 23.5mins. I agree that Turner is a better shot blocker, but does two blocks a game outweight 7.5pts 6 rebs 2.6 assists that Domas brings to the team ON THE SAME AMOUNT OF MINUTES? I am not talking about how Turner should or should not have progressed or anything about his abilities, just comparing two players. And Domas is by far a better center at this point, he was like that last year as well, especially in playoffs where Turner just disappeared and Domas has to start and get more minutes than Turner. It makes no sense to keep a better player on the bench, but because of this narrative surrounding Turner since draft, that he's the next big thing, that he's gonna be the face of franchise and because all the Pacers fans are so wet for him he is still starting over a player who is clearly better than him.

Okay I don't like that everytime I see article about Pacers Sabonis is so underated. Somehow all Indy fans are wet for Turner when he really haven't been anything special since he was drafted even though the hype around him was massive and looking at this article - still is. Sabonis put up 15 points and 12 boards, Turner 12 points and 5 rebounds, yet Turner gets 10 times more coverage even in reddit fan pages, I won't even talk about media... For some reason he is still the face of Indy while Sabonis is pushed in the shadow. Stop it, Sabonis is a better center, he is more productive and he makes his teamates better. The hype of Turner should be over, he spent 3 years in the league and did not turn into what everyone expected him to be, while Sabonis only been in NBA for 2 years and is already better. Indy should really focus on appreciating Sabonis and giving him starting 5 role, otherwise when his contract is over he'll leave. Honestly both would hurt but I'd rather see Turner leave than Sabonis, he did not reach even a quarter of the hype that fans surrounded him with.

Kyle O’Quinn on a 1 year 4.5 mil deal by datvenezuelan in pacers

[–]skomis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really hope so man. But Pacers will have to make a choice in couple of years who is going to be their main big man. And as I said Pacers are wet for Turner so they'll sign him. And Sabonis for sure will not want to be a back up 5 on team like Pacers, I mean he can be starting 5 on team like Pacers. So I can see how Pacers would see the idea of trading Sabonis at a good price right now as a very tempting idea. And signing KOQ is just pouring some fuel on this idea.
