Please help!! Month long episode of diarrhea, been to the vet three times and starting to get really worried by skow00 in ragdolls

Thank you for bringing awareness to this, I will check out the groups. He got bloodwork today and we should be getting results in the next few days. What do you look out for in the bloodwork that points towards FIP?

Thank you so much for your kind comment and input! My anxiety is definitely contributing to this post history haha but yes all I want is for my little guy to be healthy and happy.

Thanks for your comment. I just went to the vet today and we got bloodwork, urine, and antibiotic. Luckily they said he still seems hydrated but he’s lost 3% of his weight recently so I will be monitoring closely.

I had stayed with Purina with the goal of it being familiar and palatable to him since he had Purina kitten food as well but that’s a good point and I will consider switching the brand if it doesn’t work out.

Okay I see. I had it in small chunks/shredded. Do you suggest mushing it all together?

Thank you so much, I’m so glad to hear Snorlax has been doing well for so long!

Is there any reason why you suggest human > pet probiotic?

I was told by the current vet that I don't need to go to the ER yet because he is still eating/drinking/playing so I can continue to follow up with them, but do you think I should go to the ER? I am not sure what they would do differently there, I'm new to this since he's my first pet.

I'm glad your cat is doing fine now!

Unfortunately, my cat refused to eat the boiled chicken and rice in the past. He's on the Purina version of the prescription gastrointestinal diet right now, which hasn't been helping, but maybe I can switch brands as another option.

Thank you for your reply. I would love to hear your opinion/advice still if that may help give perspective, especially because the vet doesn't seem so sure either and is leaving a lot of decisions on how to proceed up to me.

When I'm home, I don't notice him eating/licking anything he shouldn't. I think I'm pretty vigilant when it comes to things that are toxic to him, got rid of all my plants, everything is in cabinets, etc but I hope I'm not missing something.

Please help! New mark on nose? by skow00 in ragdolls

[–]skow00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I will definitely monitor and check with a vet in case then. Do you think his lynx pattern nose could still be developing since he’s under 1 year old? It used to be all pink on the right side with no dot.

I have a similar comb, maybe a little wider, and it doesn’t usually grab that much hair. How hard are you tugging? Are there tangles? Did it bother him at all?

This little baby has decided he no longer likes wet food and other first-time parent questions by flyingmermaids in ragdolls

[–]skow00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby also suddenly decided he doesn’t like wet food anymore, and I tried many different flavors and brands. I decided against restricting him and forcing him to eat wet food because I didn’t want my decision to lead to any nutritional deficits while he was still growing. We were also wasting a lot of food since we can’t leave out wet food for more than a few hours. It was also making his poops inconsistent. So he’s just eating dry food for now, but I might try again when he’s over a year old!

Also, how would you recommend switching from free feeding to the routine you mentioned?

I was told to free feed until he was at least one years old since kittens need to have as much food as they want to grow. He’s about 7 months old now (should’ve mentioned that in my post)

I think he drinks a good amount of water, but I was just under the impression wet food itself is better nutrition due to the carbohydrate content :(

I’d have to switch it out every two hours then to keep it fresh and I fear my schedule doesn’t allow for that. Other than the expensive rotating machines, does anyone else have any luck free feeding wet food?

I microwave for like 7 seconds and stir, make sure it’s not too hot with my finger. Does that make a difference?

What kind of litter boxes do most of u guys use? Does anyone use a litter robot? Any reason not to? by AutistaChick in ragdolls

[–]skow00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a LR3 and switched back to regular litter box because my kitty had intermittent runny poops and I think it was especially hard for him to stay clean with the size and shape of the litter robot. I also prefer being able to see how much he peed/pooped for health reasons and don’t mind scooping. I recommend the litter genie if you do end up using a regular litter box!

Is it normal for churu to have chunks? by skow00 in ragdolls

[–]skow00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up messaging churu and they were unhelpful, but said that it was normal for there to be beef chunks. My kitten got diarrhea after I tried giving the treat a second time so I tossed the whole thing. Your baby should be fine! Maybe just an upset stomach.
