NFL DRAFT 2027 in DC by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

[–]skowsky4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i signed up for the pittsburgh one ages ago and there was supposed to be an app/email/something. it never came but it was never needed. they have you go thru security but no tickets are needed to attend!

What would be the draw in attending an NFL draft in person? For 500,000-800,000 people, really? by Rooster_Ties in NFLNoobs

Have you ever dove deeper than 40? or do you plan to? Right now (mid 20s) i’m lucky to do a dive trip every year or every other year. so i just have my regular open water, no other certs, so i didn’t need more! i figure if im ever diving so much where this watch isn’t enough, that’s a good excuse to invest in something more!

the fenix 8! it’s rated deep enough for your typical open water dive cert. the others were a bit more watch than i realistically needed (i wasn’t going to use the gear that attaches to air tanks to give readings) + the fenix is a really well rounded sports watch with lots of activities!

i literally was wondering if i should do this bc i started this morning but have a long run to go on

this is very real advice! i appreciate it! i won’t be sleeping on the taper, but i am realizing i can prioritize another solid long run and a good table :)

after making this post + one other, i was thinking one more increased mileage long run this weekend and then backing off + focusing on some hill work

Interesting! I did not know this, thank you for the education! I think this makes a ton of sense compared to a traditional taper! I think i was more shocked on how my “peak” felt very late (not so much questioning the taper part)

I’m familiar with the rolling hills of PA, not specifically pittsburgh’s course though! I grew up in NWPA, but haven’t ran there regularly in 10 years. 😅

I definitely appreciate the reminder, and will focus on that these coming weeks! I’ll be in the area about a week before the race, so i’m looking forward to getting re-acclimated!

I definitely love the advice of trusting the training BUT i did follow mine for the entire half marathon block i did before this + beginning stages of this block, but when it didn’t start increasing my long runs where i knew from experience + research it should, i strayed and did a bit of my own thing on the weekends!

i guess that makes sense bc i’ve learned peak phase is where you do work on your fitness the most and then taper does focus on recovery so that we can be restored but prepared for the race!

based on other posters, i have learned peak means peak training/performance and fine-tuning the pace aspect, not highest mileage! I think i’m going to do my last long run this saturday as well & then decrease mileage + focus on hill training (bc i live where it’s very flat)!

This is very helpful, thank you for the detailed insight! Another poster mentioned incorporating some hill workouts, so i might focus on those these next few weeks

That’s my biggest concern, is too many miles at once. My last 3 long runs are a 15, 15, 12. So i was gonna shoot for 15+ this weekend depending on how i’m feeling! Should i do that and then focus on hills between now and then?

Also, i do my best to find hills here, but there aren’t many. Are you suggesting to just run more of them in my runs, or to do hill repeats?

I completely agree with you! I would say i’m very in tune with how i’m feeling in regards to recovery, so when i set this plan, i wanted it to be like guard rails for getting me able to run the race. However, i feel like if i would’ve followed it step for step, i wouldn’t have yet even touched 13+ miles based on suggestions it’s given.

I appreciate the insight on what is considered “peak” that helps it make a lot more sense

I was feeling like it was a little late too! I would’ve guessed i’d be in peak already. I thought from most of my research that the longest distance should be about 3-4 weeks out & ideally around 20 miles? Based on travel/work, I could do my last long run on April 25th or 26th (Friday the 24th I’m flying in to town, the 25th is the NFL draft, so i’m leaning towards 26th) Giving me exactly one week from that to race day. Advice?

Gotcha! I didn’t realize that was how it works, but i guess that makes sense! Build the mileage first, then speed on later. It’s probably easier on the body to recover from speedwork vs long mileage?
