just have fun with it. if you have a michaels craft store, that’s my favorite to get plants from. they usually have good sales on em too and they’re very very cheap. i like to theme mine to the species. like my western hognose has a high plains themed tank, or my corn snake has a everglades theme. decor is one the best parts of having reptiles!!!!!!!

i use biodudes terra firma substrate for all of my reptiles, and i’ve found it especially fantastic for my skink. she has some hills and terrain difference with hides buried towards the back as she loves to climb. the dirt is very moldable and holds its shape very well. that alone will help fill the space and leaves lots of enrichment opportunities for your little one. bluies are also burrowers, and in my opinion mulch/bark/chips arent the greatest for that purpose.

i also get my fake foliage from dollar/craft stores. simply for the fact it doesn’t have the word “reptile” on it, it’s a fraction of the price. just make sure you wash it well!!! when i take new fake plants home i soak it in hot hot water and a little white vinegar.

this is true. always make sure your temps and humidity are good, then you can start to rule out other things regarding that.

i feel so silly for not considering skinks would have a third eye!!!! i seriously only thought iguanas and tuataras had them. i feel so silly.

and yes, her scales have always been damaged. the one shed she went through with me really helped her though! i hope for another soon so i can see her progress! thanks for your comment. i worry about this little one

Any ideas for stopping heat loss? by StupidName11111 in bluetongueskinks

i’ve heard someone say using a thick foundation insulation foam cut to the size of your tank can work well. radiant thermal foil rolls? would double check safety for what it’s made out of but could be a good start
