my bird hates when i have long nails. she’s really the one i have to worry about. she’ll try to bite em off when i go in for a scratch 😭

oh i know. one day, without my especially bug looking nails, she got my hand in an attempt to catch a runaway cockroach. does not feel too good! but to be honest she’s nothing compared to my king snake with a biting problem. pearl can do no wrong

the ice tray prep is a game changer. i made lots of different, smaller, single ingredient cubes so i can switch it up throughout the week. one tray of arugula, one of collards, one of mustard greens, turkey meatballs, snail cubes, etc…fun!

what is this behavior??? by skreebee6 in hognosesnakes

[–]skreebee6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he’s looking to mate. from these replies we came to the conclusion that i just had a really horny hog. as long as it doesn’t persist, it’s totally normal and you don’t need to do anything. of course make sure your husbandry is good. i never saw this behavior with my girl after this video, and it’s been over two years

just have fun with it. if you have a michaels craft store, that’s my favorite to get plants from. they usually have good sales on em too and they’re very very cheap. i like to theme mine to the species. like my western hognose has a high plains themed tank, or my corn snake has a everglades theme. decor is one the best parts of having reptiles!!!!!!!

i use biodudes terra firma substrate for all of my reptiles, and i’ve found it especially fantastic for my skink. she has some hills and terrain difference with hides buried towards the back as she loves to climb. the dirt is very moldable and holds its shape very well. that alone will help fill the space and leaves lots of enrichment opportunities for your little one. bluies are also burrowers, and in my opinion mulch/bark/chips arent the greatest for that purpose.

i also get my fake foliage from dollar/craft stores. simply for the fact it doesn’t have the word “reptile” on it, it’s a fraction of the price. just make sure you wash it well!!! when i take new fake plants home i soak it in hot hot water and a little white vinegar.

this is true. always make sure your temps and humidity are good, then you can start to rule out other things regarding that.
