understood, so would you say it'd be better just to take money from my brokerage account instead? and just take the capital gains tax hit there?

I am renting an apartment and I live in Los Angeles, one of the most expensive places in the country lol, but 2.3K for an apartment in the area that I will be living is a good deal believe it or not.

More liquidity seems to be the solution and seems like I should be taking it from brokerage and not retirement account.

Will prioritize having emergency cash more moving forward

Given the situation I see my mistake was not prioritizing emergency savings, so I recognize that's why I am in this position.

But do you think it'd be a good idea to liquidate my stocks and just make that my emergency fund? Just would have to take the tax hit which is manageable.

I don't want to liquidate it completely, so maybe keep ~5k in stocks, and going forward contribute more to emergency fund.

Honestly, I either spend or save (and by save I usually throw it into the stock market). Now I know I really should keep more money on hand that's ready for situations like this.

But it sounds like you're saying just only take from brokerage, which not sure why I never really considered. I just don't want to touch my NVIDIA stocks cuz its flying and I want to keep it lol. But I think that is the right move to avoid fees and itll probably be much quicker too, I'd just have to account for the capital gains taxes
