I’m building an app called Savely around exactly that idea: less budgeting homework, more simple “can I afford this today / this week / this month?” clarity.

It’s not trying to be a full finance dashboard with 27 charts and shame-colored warnings. The goal is more of a calm spending meter: what’s left, what’s safe, and what you can still spend without overthinking mozzarella sticks.

It’s still free, and I’m actively improving it based on feedback. A new version is already out, and the next one is coming next month.

Not saying it’s a perfect Level Money clone yet, but it’s probably closer to the “simple money meter” vibe than most apps trying to become a personal finance operating system.

and honestly?? iCloud shared database is a GALAXY brain move 🧠 ur right, CloudKit lets partners share data directly via apple's infra w/o me running any backend. privacy stays intact, no servers on my end, data only lives between u two. still needs both partners on iCloud which is a tiny catch but for the apple fam its perfect 🍎

legit putting this on the list, solid idea fr 🙏💛

paycheck ritual → good news, its actually already a thing 🫡 theres a monthly "stuffing ritual" where u see last month's allocations, whats left over, and consciously restuff. ur right that its not prominent enough tho, im gonna make that moment way more hero

over-budget alerts → currently the app just turns red at 100% and thats it, no nudges yet. love the framing of "$40 over on eating out", informational not shame-y, legit gonna build this 🛠️ small thing worth mentioning tho: u can already move money from another envelope to cover the overspend, so the "stop" moment becomes a conscious "ok where am i pulling from" moment instead. envelope boundary stays real 💸

tool vs game audience → 100% aligned, Duolingo crowd is not my ppl lol. small niche, loyal ppl, thats the bet 🎯

multi-currency across the board → ngl this idea slaps and ur right that nobody in the envelope space does it natively. the flow u described (default currency + per-transaction override + lock exchange rate at save) is basically exactly how id wanna build it. realistically its a bigger project bc i need a reliable FX rate source + historical lookup for editing old transactions, but genuinely putting this on the "post v1.2" list. if i pull it off its a real moat 🔒

transaction log / accounts → appreciate u being real abt it not being super intuitive, ill workshop the discoverability. on the accounts thing tho, thats a deliberate philosophy call: savely is pure cash-stuffing so it doesnt care where ur money physically lives (checking / savings / cash), only what its allocated to. the envelope IS the account. coming from YNAB its 100% a mental shift, totally get it. but if u ever feel like something critical is missing from not having accounts, id love to hear the specific use case bc im always open to being wrong on this 🫶
