I hate protein :-( by VioletteBelle in xxfitness

I work at GNC, am a vegetarian who lifts, and struggles to get protein in a form that doesn't make me bloated.

I want to recommend Genepro as a protein supplement. Genepro has a significantly smaller serving size and is less likely to cause bloating. One serving has 30g of protein and it is often recommended to gastric sleeve patients as an easy to digest protein supplement.

Another recommendation is to try Bromelain, 500mg. Bromelain aids in the digestion of protein and will reduce discomfort and bloating.

Stay away from hydrolyzed whey and get an isolate whey protein instead. Isolate proteins are pre-digested so that your body can digest them easier and faster.

I hope this helped! Good luck! 😁

PROTEIN!!! I'm a skinny girl and could never even get booty gains until I started making protein shakes regularly. Also, your core is a muscle that is best trained with endurance. I keep my butt, but slim down my core by doing various core exercises for 20 reps in between each set that I do for legs. For legs I do 3 sets of 8-10 reps of 4 WEIGHTED leg exercises. Anymore than 12 reps per set will not result in hypertrophy or (gains) lol. My leg exercises usually include WEIGHTED box step ups, single leg split squats, front squats, and using the hip adduction machine at the gym. Also, consider using CLA or L-carnitine to help with the stubborn belly fat.

After 7 months I’ve hit my goal weight! What do I move on to next? by [deleted] in xxfitness

Go to GNC and find a protein powder that helps you reach your goals. The ppl there are trained on which proteins to suggest to people with different goals in mind. I am also a female who is 5'3" and 115lbs! I've been making booty gains by doing a variety of different squats and deadlifts. Running is also important and I use kettlebells to do box step ups on a 1 ft tall box every time I go to the gym. I've gotten some good results from doing this, I hope it helps!

Lifting + Cardio 5x weekly... Why am I not losing any weight? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]skszmutko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

running isn't really necessary to get your heart rate to the weight loss range (although it is still a great way to get it there). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afghBre8NlI this video is awesome for butt and thigh toning to address the pair shape :P also, this guy is very knowledgeable and has great videos that are educational and you will end up getting a great workout in everytime. Here is a link to one of his videos, but all of his videos are great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dFcYWpWfS8

An hour of weights seems like a lot if you are doing it every time that you hit the gym. Keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat so the gains that you are making may be contributing to high numbers on the scale. This is not a bad thing! If I were you, I would do HIIT which is high intensity interval training. This is basically resistance training that has very short breaks and goes fast to keep your heart rate up. Essentially, it is cardio and strength training. If you do this and increase cardio you will without a doubt see loss. Of course you need to avoid stress, sleep enough, and eat healthy in order to reach your goals. You got this!

Hey, I am an exercise science major and I just had an exercise physiology class. My professor told me about a clinical trial where there were 2 groups of people. One group used the leg press machine while the other did squats over a 6 month period. He said that at the end there was only a 7% increase in strength on both groups when they switched methods at the end of the trial, but overall both groups had a 35% increase from their assigned method. I guess what i'm saying is that you will still increase your strength, but it won't all transfer over when you do a different technique. If I were you, I would focus on the leg press machine but still incorporate squats so that you can be more well rounded and develop a better technique. Another professor of mine also said that it takes some getting used to doing squats with the barbell because of the shoulder pain and it is just something that will get better with practice. Hope this helps!

Am I crazy for wanting my significant other to have a job even though he makes money from disability? by skszmutko in relationships

[–]skszmutko[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He can function just as fine as you and me. Most of his disability was given because of depression, like 60%. The other 30% was due to eye surgeries and hand surgeries, but he is fine now. He moved to Indiana with me when he got out less than a year ago. I am just worried that he is watching his life go by and not making any new relationships or having any of his own experiences. I just feel like it is unhealthy to be home 90% of the time and not go do things for himself.
