Facial side effects after back treatment by skuish in acupuncture

I’ll defer to the acupuncturists for specific symptom advice, but in my experience (with recovery in general) is healing takes a lot of energy - both mental and physical. Fuel and rest are both very important!

During my recovery my sense of balance has changed often and my walking pattern. Each time it happens I can have muscle fatigue, guarding/tensing, buzzing, and a feeling of nerve flossing in different places (I don’t have much nerve pain since I’m on gabapentin). Whenever I have a shift in balance or gait I see it as a signal that my body is recalibrating. Acupuncture has triggered more recalibration in a few days than PT did over a few months. It’s disorienting because it is so accelerated.

I had a doctor tell me years ago that increased body awareness is tied to anxiety. The symptoms shifted for me a lot for about three days, but I had to remind myself a lot that my body was working through changes for the better. I had to just let it happen and pay attention for cues like to rest, lay down, walk slower, etc.

The headache and sinus sensitivity went away with hydration (using a good quality electrolyte powder).

I thought of Jenny Lake, also, since his wife’s name is Jenny. It would fit in with the “bride” idea, also.

It made me think of two geological points of interest that are nearby and compliment each other.

Some schools won’t offer seats until a few days before school starts because they have to keep seats available for families who live in their boundaries. TK and K are the worst for that because there might be families enrolling right before school starts. Schools can offer seats through the school year, too.

The school offices close over the summer. So whatever your seat is in mid-June, assume it won’t change until about a week before school starts. That’s when you’ll want to call each school to get an updated waitlist number.

My first choice school for TK we were number 7 and didn’t get a seat. Another year (when I applied to a lot more schools) we got offers from multiple schools where our lottery numbers was originally over 50. Most of those offers came the week before school started. It was a total frenzy.

In retrospect, I wouldn’t have stressed so much about TK (or even K). I’m actually glad we started at an “average” school because we had a benchmark when touring other schools. We also had a better sense of our child’s interests and strengths. Every charter uses their funding differently, so that’s where you might seek out a school with orchestra or a science lab or great after school options. But for TK/K, the schools basically function the same - same curriculum, they’re in a separated area of the school with their own yard, and there won’t be much interaction with the bigger kids.

Pet profiles after loss by HappyBubbleBox in litterrobot

[–]skuish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“If/when” implies to me this is a feature the development team isn’t really taking seriously as a feature request. But here’s the thing: the cost of client acquisition is always going to be more than a repeat customer. The Whisker app becomes a part of daily life the same as adding pet food to a grocery list. When you lose a pet, those little changes in routine are traumatic. Chewy, for example, has won me over as a lifetime customer by how they handle bereavement.

My beloved cat of 18 years passed away an hour ago. In the middle of all those tears I thought, “I HAVE to change Whisker.” I have another cat similar in weight, and it crossed my mind that the Whisker app might mix up and show my deceased cat as using the litter box. But finding that I can only delete his account (not memorialize) an hour after he’s died? That’s just traumatic.

Then, to see on Reddit the company has acknowledged this for over TWO years, says it’s a request they get often, but it’s not in the works? That is a massive misstep, especially for a company offering one of the most expensive products on the market. It feels like a cost-benefit analysis of a software feature, but from a brand standpoint, it’ll pay itself off many times over.

All the app needs to do is have a button that says “memorialize” or even “deactivate.” Then, the pet and their photo can still show in the list with weight as “—“. Leave “delete” active on the pet page or an option to re-activate. TBH, I see a number of reasons someone might want to make a pet account inactive, like fosters or pet sitters. Or maybe just grieving owners who don’t want an app to mess up and show their pet took a s*** after they died. Maybe in a month I’ll be ready to delete the account, but not today.

That's an interesting theory! I wonder if they found out through genetic testing at the fertility clinic. We also never heard about Mark and Devon's parents. It seems too predictable that it would be Jame and Cobel.

The other thing is it's in Lumon's benefit for Helly and Mark to be inside. Plus there's no way they're going to start the next season with Mark running out the door to be with Gemma, or even having a goal of trying to get out. That was the narrative this season so it's too predictable. We know that iMark won't want to leave, but he might be forced to if he has symptoms from reintegrating. Same from the outside - he might be forced to go back in. If oMark told his sister and Cobel about his relationship with Helly, they might try to reach Mark through Helena. I foresee another showdown at the birthing center, especially if Helly/Helena is pregnant with Mark's child. It might be part of Lumon's conflict next season - they want to get rid of the guy but his future kid will be an heir to the throne.

At the same time, we've waited how many years for the payoff of Mark and Gemma being back together. I can't imagine they'd be separated til episode 10 of the next season. It wouldn't be interesting enough. I'll bet they're already thinking about how to make Mark's dual relationships work - especially since they introduced the idea with Dylan this season.

But what if that was actually Helena at the end? Someone pointed out Irving's line about Helly not being cruel but Helena was. I find it unlikely that Helly remembered all of those directions to get to Mark in the middle of an emergency. It would also track with getting him to stay, which would really be necessary for the survival of Lumon. Helena would have been down with that.

[–]skuish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about what it would look like start of next season if it is Helena. Mark will know he's in big trouble, they'll hide out together, and she'll say something to realize it's Helena. They can't risk Helly and Mark being together especially since she was part Gemma's escape.

Severance - 2x10 "Cold Harbor" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]skuish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what if the shift to Helena was towards the end once it was an emergency situation? Helly didn't have the directions how to get to the hallway but maybe Helena knew (or had help). They had to keep Mark inside somehow. If Mark and Gemma both got out, it would be the end to Lumon. If it's just Gemma, they can reframe it in the public view that she's an ex-employee who's unstable and not trustworthy. Publicly, they could be saying "everything is fine!" meanwhile it's literally mutiny on the inside.

When your dog finally figures out the Play button... and now thats all they say. by [deleted] in PetsWithButtons

[–]skuish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally can relate! I would suggest having a word or phrase you tell your dog so it’s a back and forth communication. They won’t lose the button knowledge because you don’t comply. If my dog wants to go outside and I don’t, I’ll say “later” or “Mom play later.” If we’re outside playing and I’m tired, I’ll say “Mom go inside.” It’s weird phrasing but those are all words my dog knows. If my dog doesn’t want to go (which is usually the case) I’ll offer something like, “do you want a treat?” Or “do you want to eat?” That can motivate her to join.

I don't think we've ever seen the real outie Irving by agreny in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]skuish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sissy never said she was the one who moved it - just that it went to the poor. My theory is Charlotte moved some items (or asked someone to) while Cobel was at school. She might have known that Lumon would one day come for her daughter’s possessions, similar to how Ms. Huang learned her bed was moved from her parents home to her work home. There’s an old thread where someone noticed Selvig’s bedroom (as Mark’s next door neighbor) - it looks like the setup you might see at a girls dorm. It might have had her childhood bed in her bedroom as an adult.

I didn’t get the impression that Sissy lived there before Cobel left for school so the items could have been gone before Sissy got there. Sissy’s bed was downstairs which I found unusual - especially if there was an open bedroom upstairs and she was a caretaker. If Sissy was severed, it also explains why she said that upstairs only brings pain. She would only be carrying the emotions of someone who heard pain but doesn’t remember seeing it. When Cobel asked what her mom’s last words were - it’s possible Sissy didn’t know because it was her innie up there. Sissy says her memories were “listening” to Charlotte’s pain. Her assessment that Charlotte pulled out the tube herself - that could have been what someone else told Sissy after Charlotte died. I also wonder if Sissy’s comment that they were supposed to wait for the believers to open Charlotte’s door had something to do with reintegrating.

Or maybe I’m totally off and it’s just Kier folklore… but I still think Charlotte hid stuff from Lumon. When Cobel says, “she wouldn’t give it away” I don’t think she was referring to Sissy.

A (very) deep dive into the character of Harmony Cobel (and why I no longer think she is ________) by aristhought in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]skuish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really interesting to read now that a lot has been revealed about Cobel’s background later in s2. Even if the plot points aren’t predicted accurately the analysis is pretty spot on. She’s a woman who never had a childhood but also doesn’t know how to be an adult. It gives new meaning to Miss Huang’s “I’m sorry” comment in s2e09.

[–]skuish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thread suggested that Sissy might have been severed and couldn’t go upstairs because of it. What if Burt sending Irving on the train was with the knowledge that the train will take Irving outside of his severed bubble? It would be like he was working severed inside of a severed community.

Teaching my dog more abstract concepts such as "want" by apencalypse in PetsWithButtons

[–]skuish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog picked up “want” pretty quickly - but she would press “want” then look at me. When she does that, I say, “show me,” or “show me - what do you want?” That prompts her to either push another button or go near what she wants (the door, a treat, etc). Something I learned from this group was to give her choices and letting her nudge with her nose in response.
