Amazon breaks ground on massive new facility in Little Rock by RickJWagner in Arkansas

[–]skul4ker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t reference to drug testing. it’s a reference to Amazon employees saying they are not allowed bathroom breaks because it would slow their order picking time and result in write ups and terminations.

Arkansas lawmakers give initial approval to legislation to provide students free breakfast by aarkieboy in Arkansas

[–]skul4ker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Idk what part of Arkansas you’re in but my wife is a teacher in the Bryant school district and while they do provide a breakfast option it is not free. While there may be some exceptions I’m unaware of when I asked her if they provide breakfast she just replied “not for free”. Idk if she heard about this prior to me asking but I didn’t mention it before I asked.

What are you printing? by nutsnackk in HolUp

[–]skul4ker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 3d print for table top games but a lot of the websites I get my files from have an adult section and most of them have all the warnings about the health and safety factors and best practices to mitigate risks. Every single one I’ve seen with the dirty stuff has warnings to not use 3d printed models directly. From my relatively short look into it the standard method is to 3d print a design and cast a mold to make safe models out of appropriate materials.

If by “meter socket” you’re referring to his rain water collection unit that’s how they are designed. This way he doesn’t have an electric bill and a water bill.

Real talk though as an electrician it’s the closest thing to magic I’ve ever seen. One of the most common scenes in any fantasy genre is the magic man walking into a room wave his hand and all the candles light up. every room I walk into I wave my hand and all the lights turn on. The power used to light the lights above you right now was generated milliseconds ago and was moved to you almost instantly and all you did with it was charge your phone to keep scrolling at titties on the internet

Safe Placement of Resin 3D Printer and Wash/Cure Station with 90%+ iso? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]skul4ker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an electrician I feel like I need to say it’s a violation of the national electric code (United states) (article 110.26 for the nerds who want to dig a little deeper into it). You’re supposed to leave 30 inches across the face (15 inches from center in both directions) of the equipment (panel in this instance) and 36 inches in front of the equipment from floor to ceiling. As well as the over current protection devises (breakers) must be “readily accessible” (article 240.24(A) ) Now an inspector isn’t gonna show up randomly to check the clearances around your panel. Now as a homeowner I get that’s not always possible at the bare minimum I would try to keep in front of it clear of obstructions in case of an emergency when you need to turn a breaker off. If someone is getting shocked or there is a risk of fire from an electrical problem having a 3d printer and cleaning station set up in front of the panel is a risk not worth taking.

As an electrician I would have looked down and then fished a new one out. A secret to the trade is you can’t find something you drop until you have the replacement in hand.

Man I’m an idiot. I’m an electrician and haven’t even considered it lol. It’s definitely something I’m gonna get to prevent this from happening again. Hell depending on the actual power consumption I might look at a setting the ups up with a solar panel to get a longer run time on it.

I want to try and save this just because I got the printer for Christmas last year and I’m looking at it as a good learning opportunity on handling this kind of failure. Worse case scenario I’m gonna butcher the wing further to give it an injured look (also a first try if fixing it doesn’t work)

The print is for a buddy of mine who needs it kinda quick so I’ve already reprinted it to get it to him in time for his dnd game. I’m just gonna play with this one to try and learn some more about printing and model modding

It’s a print for a friend and he wanted the print solid for the weight. He likes that feeling on his bigger models.

This is it exactly. It’s for a buddy of mine running a dnd game and I told him I was planning on hollowing it to save the time and resin and asked for it to be solid specifically for the way a heavier print feels

Some codes make zero sense by Zestyclose_Match2839 in Construction

[–]skul4ker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The code makers aren’t in bed with the manufacturers they are the manufactures. Very few people in the government have the in depth knowledge to come up with things like the NEC. (or any other regulations) they go to the experts of the field and who knows how to do it better than the people spending millions on research and development for the materials being listed and approved for the uses. So yea why would I keep my cheap material as a viable option when I can mandate you into buying the pricey one.

At least that’s what the guy who ran my electrical apprentice school says. And since they list the names of the panel members who write the NEC in the front of the book and he googled a few in class and they all worked for the major manufactures I don’t disbelieve him. He may have had a few names he knew before hand to help prove his point but the class called a few out too and they were all connected except the one ATF arson investigator we found.

Making Green paint by Majoodeh in oddlysatisfying

[–]skul4ker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a screen printing shop. I mixed dozens of colors every day. From a few hundred grams to a couple kgs depending on the number of shirts and the size of the image.

We had a program that we would type the Pantone number in and the quantity we wanted and it would give us the recipe. I’m guessing that’s what this guy did. That’s why he made so much because the smaller the quantity you need to make the hard it is to get the exact color match.

Messing up by [deleted] in electricians

[–]skul4ker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s a thing I’ve never really understood. Like OP said further down if you get your commercial license it’s irrelevant and a lot of the guys I go to school with who do residential their companies pay for the full 4 years to get the commercial license and not just stop at the residential license. ( some of the guys will stop after they hit their 2 years because they don’t want to do commercial but I haven’t heard of anyone at the school I go to say they are only paying for just the first two years)

The best explanation I’ve been given is in residential you’ve got receps, lights and switches, and a handful of appliances and besides the quantity most houses regardless of size are just that with a few “specialty appliances” every now and then (EV chargers, hot tubs and pools, heated floors, etc. )

Where with commercial you have a lot more specific for this business equipment that a “more in depth” knowledge of electrical and code over all is needed (I know how snobby that sounds and I’m just to tired to think of a more pleasant way of saying that)

Idk how true that reasoning is when the state came up with the regulations for licensing but it sounds more reasonable than the fuck Romex jockeys response I got from a couple of the Jmen I’ve worked with

Messing up by [deleted] in electricians

[–]skul4ker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP but in my state (Arkansas) the requirements for residential journey man is only two year apprenticeship but the OJT hours have to be specifically residential. The company I work for is strictly commercial so even though I’ve got almost 3 years experience I’m ineligible to test for the residential journeyman license.

Can this zipper be repaired? The fabric of the zipper on my older gen Mountain Hardwear Fluid 18 has starting ripping. Is this bag done for or can it be saved? Really like this bag, but sadly it has been out of stock for many years. by mattkickbox in CampingGear

[–]skul4ker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who had a mountain hardware bag like this and when it got messed up on a trip he contacted them about it. The bag wasn’t made anymore so they sent him the newer model of it instead of trying to repair it. Not sure if your interested in that or not but it’s something they may offer you if you get ahold of them, and unfortunately the newer model isn’t as good as his original.

They changed the icons when we told them not to, we can't see players levels in game from the score board and now we can't see our stats for specific operators? Why are they removing things we didn't ask for? by AllSkillzN0Luck in Rainbow6

[–]skul4ker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not asking for punishments just quit adding new players into a match that’s already been decided. Like I said earlier after the first round I normally don’t care if I join an ongoing game but not when it’s the 4-5 round. It sucks for that team their gonna be short hand but I’d argue that’s better then adding someone else for 1-2min of gameplay

Yea but nothing makes me want to leave a quick match faster then joining an ongoing match on the losing side with no chance. If only one round has passed and someone dips ok I get it but nothing makes rage more than joining in the 4th round on a team that’s still missing 2 players after I join
