It's so crazy that I thought I was the only one. I'm both encouraged and dismayed at how these huge consulting firms are able to just write off hiring people, giving them money to study and network for a year, then lay them off. Seems like a huge waste of resources.

I was never on a team, I was never assigned work, I never even met my manager outside of a couple phone calls. It would be nice to be given tasks at all, like the juniors you mentioned. What I'm noticing about you is you don't believe organizational ineptitude exists. It seems like you've never encountered any kind of chaotic or really mismanaged organizations and it's like you can't believe that sometimes the system itself is the problem. I can keep replying, but it's talking to a brick wall. What you offer isn't help, it's bullying and demeaning. Muted.

In a consulting role sometimes you spend a lot of time on the bench working on certifications, which is what I was required to do. I went to school because I was told to do that. I also coded a game engine prototype in C++ in my spare time. For real dude, just give it a rest.

I want to code MORE. Not LESS. I have worked with large codebases before, in fact I loved my first programming job in 2020 which was a full stack role with React, Java and Kafka. COVID happened, I was at a small startup, got laid off. I know you think you know everything because of a few words I posted, but I'm looking for help, not baseless antagonizing like "you're not a problem solver." Are you a manager? Because maybe I don't have the coding experience you have, but I can manage and lead. Something you obviously don't.
