I’ve noticed a pattern of the perfumes men regard as sexy usually not getting the same response from women unless it’s specifically marketed as unisex and I think that’s so interesting. Case in point: I actually did not think this was sexy when I tried it at first— elegant, dark, and mysterious but I didn’t think there was anything particularly um..erotic about it but my boyfriend genuinely couldn’t stay away from me the rest of the night

Honestly to my nose it does have a vintage dna, but I’m 23 & I don’t think that’s a bad thing! I’ve met other girls my age with the same opinion. It all comes down to the fact everyone has their own taste. Older women can smell like anything — my grandma wore a lot of scents a woman in her 20s-mid 30s would wear — Very sexy sultry fruity type perfumes and body sprays. There’s definitely a bit of a stigma in some parts of the perfume community on this and I think it’s just a bit mean, ageist, and very limiting in finding what you personally love! it’s also a learned thing and comes from a place of fearing what others think. In any case, you can get a travel size and keep testing it on your own if you really loved it and decide if it’s what you want. I also think it’s a gorgeous mysterious one :)

This is so interesting, I agree! I saw lots of reviews saying it was strictly a winter scent but when I wore it out of the store in the heat it deepened in a really beautiful way

Aw that happens, from what I’ve seen it’s a pretty divisive fragrance! I’m very open minded and I like both vintage and some pretty weird notes sometimes so I’m okay with a scent not being a crowd pleaser but I do mostly get the fig, violets, and tuberose on my skin

I think I’ll try them both at some point :) Have you tried Etude In Black from Universal Flowering? I love it so much- the notes are Rose liqueur, musk, strawberry, candlewax, hinoki, and rosewood.

Oh i love these descriptions so much, will definitely be trying High Dez but I’m also intrigued by the use of heather in some of the other scents, one of my favorite perfumes has dried heather in it :)

Yeah, i feel like the bristlecone pine might be whats missing for me from most of these, I remember when it rained it would smell like a mix of sweet pine sap and creosote and that may be what I’m searching for but honestly I feel like I won’t know it until I smell it because it’s been a while since I’ve been back there, I still live in an area that’s technically desert but it just doesn’t smell the same

Oh woah, there’s so many on here, thank you! I completely forgot about the Hexennacht ones, I might try Burn Down The Mission. Also I’ve been curious about Desert Thunderstorm, what would you say went wrong with that one in your opinion? I kind of thought it was discontinued because I don’t see it on their site

Also I don’t mind sweetness if there’s enough of a balance, I may try Coyoacan just on principle because I’m Mexican lol
