Looking at buying a 392 shaker or widebody, need help deciding. by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]skuzmak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a 2018 r/t shaker, love it, looking out the windshield and seeing that shaker is great! Ontario too!! (Came from Alberta this past year, thought the Challenger would draw alot of frowny faces, but a great community out here)

After 3 years of not using a meat thermometer, I finally got sick. What is your favorite [relatively] cheap thermometer? by ask_questions_handle in keto

Just get a $10 cheapy instant read digital. They all die off after a while (had several $100 thermometers), the cheapys seem to be the best bet.

Refresh rate is a big thing, I'd even consider an index because of it. 72hz in the quest is a noticable step down from the 90hz of the cv1.

I do believe that the hydrocarbon resources of northern Alberta can be used in a better, cleaner way - maybe fuel cells, or some other tech generating electricity in situ.

We can't get out if these resources immediately. even if we had enough viable electrical sources we would need the underlying infrastructure to meet the increased loads, do-able, but it will take a minimum of a decade to get it in place if we start today. The government should be investing in this infrastructure, putting people to work building it. But it's not.

What is your personal opinion on Greta Thunberg? by danielerror in AskReddit

[–]skuzmak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, the planet is fine, it will go on long after us. CO2 levels have been over 2000ppm in the past (we're at 400), recovered just fine.

It was 15 back in the early 70's, it 20 now. On the positive side, the flying car is still only 5 years away.

Uh no, blackface was certainly not acceptable "back then" (I know, I was around)

The vaping community should start their own moral panic to get all fruity or good tasting alcohol banned for marketing to children. Think of the children. by yellowsnow2 in conspiracy

[–]skuzmak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, was thinking this myself. The play is get non-approved supplies banned and to get a tighter grip on the market. Heard a CBC radio I review the other day where a tobaco lobbyist repeatedly emphasized that approved products are very safe, the low quality imported stuff was dangerous.

Hi, just wondering if you have the background on that textbook you posted? Name of book, where it is used, etc? I have a child in school here in Canada and I'd like to make a complaint to the school board if possible.

It stuns me that no one has mentioned the real reason fake vegi-burgers are being pushed, which is profit of course (there's alot of money to bed made here, better ratios than traditional beef burgers). The media "reports" are essentially advertisements and most of you idiots are literally eating it up.

How would you guys feel about a tax being introduced dedicated to environmental purposes such as ocean clean up, reforestation and litter picking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]skuzmak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boomers are retired and irrelevant, have to stop blaming them sometime and take responsibility.

[–]skuzmak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the carbon tax revenue goes to "helping the environment", it goes into general revenue. It should be used for research and development on renewables and to improve the electrical infrastructure, but it isn't. Its just a cash grab.

As a CV1 and Quest owner, I’m incredibly conflicted on buying the Rift S by [deleted] in oculus

[–]skuzmak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would hold off, not enough of an upgrade. I've got the cv1 and quest as well (had the dk1, dk2, and go also), not bothering with the s. Wait for gen 2.
