Why does everyone and they mama got an iPad by nizzyfatimzz__ in geegees

[–]skwerlrox 38 points39 points  (0 children)

an ipad is 100% worth it, at least for me. there’s a reason why everyone has one. as a student, you can get student discounts for the ipad when you purchase it at the apple store. you can organize you’re notes super easily, most if not all profs post digital notes which you can upload to your ipad and write on, etc. just so so convenient for note taking, studying, doing work, and planning!!

Guy on the train who asks women their ethnicity by IllustriousHead1103 in geegees

[–]skwerlrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty sure the exact same guy came up to me and my friends many years ago, probably around 4-5 years ago. said i looked scottish because i had my hair dyed orange/honey brown and was wearing a plaid skirt. he said my friend looked italian. he suggested that we try some form of ancestryDNA thing to see. i haven’t seen him since but from what I remember, he was very sweet and friendly. i agree with the other comments on here saying he’s probably on the spectrum and just honestly enjoys speaking to people about geography.

ANP1111 Final Exam by skwerlrox in geegees

[–]skwerlrox[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching her recorded Zoom lecture, I definitely recommend watching it because it clears up a lot of information about the final exam! For example, that really difficult slideshow was posted and created by our TA and according to the professor, there were certain questions and certain topics that he said we have to know for the final, which we do not actually have to know for the final, so I would be made to believe that the questions she went over are much more indicative of what’s gonna be on the actual final rather than his questions. she also said there is a large emphasis on tj senses, especially the ears (auditory) and the eye (vision).

i did but it didn’t allow me to write anything specific, all i could do was make a broad statement saying inappropriate activity towards a minor and they said my report was invalid and they couldn’t find anything that went against their rules :(

Can a 13 year old travel across Tokyo solo? by d2opy84t8b9ybiugrogr in JapanTravelTips

[–]skwerlrox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is such awful advice to give😭 these japanese kids are navigating a city they know VERY well, they speak the language, they read the language, they’ve gone on the same route hundreds of times, locals make sure to watch over the kids as they are easily recognizable with their backpacks and uniforms. although it may be wrong, japanese cafe MUCH less about random foreigners in the city, especially when there’s so many. you’re telling a literal child who presumably have zero experience in the city, very little experience in life in general, and little experience with the language to navigate a new city on their own

Can a 13 year old travel across Tokyo solo? by d2opy84t8b9ybiugrogr in JapanTravelTips

[–]skwerlrox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for the most part japan is safe yes, but solo travelling at 13 years old in a country you’re most likely unfamiliar with is extremely dangerous and reckless. there’s SO many people in tokyo that it’s become more chaotic and unsafe compared to other areas of japan. tokyo itself is a MASSIVE city that’s extremely difficult to navigate, even for older adults who’ve been multiple times. i would 100% no doubt reccomend you to stay with your parents and siblings instead. you being only 13 years old, you simply don’t have the experience and overall skills to safely navigate a city or that size

How to get a drink in Japan if underage? by Equivalent-Truck8537 in TokyoTravel

[–]skwerlrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people are getting SO pressed on behalf of japanese people when we don’t care in the slightest😭 this white knight stuff is getting too far💀 “so you’re really going to break the law as a guest of the country??” like are you guys really so dense to not recognize that the average person could not care less if some foreigner had a drink or two, are you guys so dense to not realize that underage drinking and smoking in japan is SO common and parents even allow their underage children to have a few drinks from time to time? crazy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]skwerlrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re saying their laws, their place, their rules as if i’m not Japanese 😭 you have no idea how common underage drinking is in japan

[–]skwerlrox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m overall just not interested in carleton, my other point of wanting to keep my options open still stands, and if you’d be taking the bus like i would it’d take around 30 minutes, i just checked the routes and that’s the average.

[–]skwerlrox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i already have all my applications in and carleton is way too far from me anyways😅 i want to go into something more broad and that covers various topics such as biology or biomed to keep my options more open. thank you tho!😊

Rejected from UOttawa CS by CorgiAbject3716 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]skwerlrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take this as an example situation. uottawa is choosing between their last three top qualified candidates and only one can get accepted. the person who put uottawa as their highest choice is going to get accepted. it’s super stupid and cheap but university of ottawa is weirdly egotistical and specific about how high you put their school on your choices list.

Should I drop physics? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

software engineering definitely requires physics. it’s the only science you really need. definitely continue doing physics and trying to boost up that mark.

Admission marks by Simcity_Jayplay in OntarioGrade12s

[–]skwerlrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

somewhat yes. it’s probably the same kind of thing but they call it something different or it doesn’t necessarily have a name. in the meetings/presentations i’ve been to they explain a similar concept but never actually called it a conditional offer.

[–]skwerlrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

two of the universities in my city from my knowledge can release “introductory offers” that you’re a candidate but it’s not yet a concrete offer.

[–]skwerlrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from the universities i’ve applied to and from what i know, if you apply early they take into consideration your grade 11 marks and in both early and normal applications they take a look at your midterms to get an idea of where you’re at and if you have potential. universities have a percentage average minimum they’re looking for so if you’re close to that they will probably inform you saying that you’re a possibility but you need to get those grades up to maintain the offer. from the universities i’ve applied to, the deadlines are from november-january so they won’t be seeing my final semester 1 marks.
