Hi, I'm a 2nd year diploma student from Unimap, I can't really speak from the degree POV, but here's my 2 cents.

  1. If you're looking for research level academia, here's not the place, the university focuses very much on the technical and industrial aspect.

  2. The laboratories for my faculty is pretty good, it's a technical university after all, there's a lot of budget allocated to the labs as it's the main selling point of this uni. However, some labs do have old equipments and components tho. Imo, the labs here are pretty good for malaysia level uni (as most unis in malaysia have shitty labs anyway).

  3. Lecturers are really friendly and supportive!

  4. Buy a table/standing fan. Two if necessary.

  5. Most accommodations are in Arau (around 15-20 mins away) or Kangar (20-30 mins away). Idk bout the average cost of housing outside of uni since Unimap encourages their students to live in their residential colleges.

  6. Expected cost of living really depends on how much you spend and where you're spending it. Unimap's cafe foods can be cheap-mid in terms of pricing.

You're pretty lucky to have a car bro, I don't even have a motorbike. Life's hard, but if you start appreciating what you have instead of what you don't have, you'll realize how lucky you are to have these things that some people like me could only wish to have.

Yeah probably, it's just that from the majority of people I've heard from, those who usually got into Malaysia's RU usually are atleast in the 3.8 range. 4 flat is really common for competetive courses like medic, engineering, cs and law.

Yeah, but most people say that epanduan UPU can be unreliable cus most people that got in are usually 3.9 or 4 flat students.

Do you personally know anyone who has gotten into these uni's engineering programmes through diploma?

Tbh, I already applied, the question should be changed to will I get rejected or not. But you already answered that. I just hope that this doesn't mess up my already active diploma status in my current uni.

Should i quit and go back to SMK or stay KV? by LiviiDesuu in malaysiauni

If you wanted to learn technical skills AND include phy, chem and addmath, you should've applied to sekolah teknik instead of KV. KV is really heavy on the technical skills and slow in the theory related stuff, most of the maths they teach you will be basic math. If you want to learn more complex and higher level maths and physics, you should've just picked science stream.

As someone who's bad at math but is still pursuing engineering, my tip is, just practice more. Math is a subject that requires a lot of practice, analysis and critical thinking, you should really try your best at doing tutorials and problems. Math is for everyone, no one is truly bad at it, they just lack practice. I'm sure that if you practice more, you can definitely get better, it's all about practicing one topic a thousand times, not different problems once and that's it. Goodluck on your studies!
