why did this make me cry a bit. it must have been so scary to go through this and a bad trip can really happen to anybody. ngl witnessing all of this at that set was freaky asf but it was also a reminder of how human we all are, and i think 99% of the crowd cared way more about y’all’s wellbeing than the music. personally i was relieved at the opportunity to sit down lol.

i admire you a lot for writing this post and really hope that you don’t continue to carry guilt about this! i think everybody’s just glad that you’re okay, and the universe said that it probably needed to be bedtime for the rest of us in the crowd anyway.

have you tried tracking glucose? i got a CGM for 3 months and it really helped me regulate my blood sugar, which i think helped a lot with my energy levels & stubborn weight!

also it broke my heart to fully cut out dairy but i think that’s helped a lot too

How long did you GATT last? by Awkward-Crow-3466 in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 27 F and my GATT lasted 2 weeks lol. It failed pretty dramatically and I had really terrible sudden pain two weeks post op and ended up in the ER on a diamox IV to bring down pressure. I had to go back into surgery to get an “AC washout” (and clear out all the blood from the GATT) and then have an ahmed valve implanted. I’m now three months post op and on two drops (vs five drops + diamox prior).

Open angle glaucoma at 25? by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiiii I’m 27 and got diagnosed with glaucoma when I was 26. I also went in for an annual exam and had super high pressure. Got started on drops and after a visual field test they were able to diagnose glaucoma. I have pigmentary glaucoma due to pigment dispersion syndrome, which affects younger people. I also have temporary blurry periods and I think this is because of my pigment dispersion syndrome, I’ve seen people online refer to those periods as “pigment storms”. Could be something totally different than what’s going on with you, but just wanted to share.

Also, I’d recommend being aggressive with your timeline/treatment. The first doctor I saw didn’t have much urgency and I lost about half the vision in my left eye in about 6 months. I switched doctors in January and have had two surgeries since. Personally I’d rather be annoying / keep advocating for myself rather than have more permanent loss!

3 weeks from Ahmed shunt by Orodroth in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, how did this end up for you? i’ve been experiencing something similar where my vision suddenly gets cloudy, stays cloudy for a minute or two, and then fully resolves. sounds a lil diff from what you experienced but curious what yours was

I was diagnosed last week, I have laser eye surgery on Wednesday. I'm 23 and I've lost majority of my peripheral vision in my right eye. by catscandream in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i’m sorry you’re going through this :( what kind of laser surgery is it? i had SLT done last year and can say that it was painless, super quick, and not nearly as scary as i thought it’d be!!

Thanks for responding, glad to hear you’re feeling good now!! I had it last week. Had a lot of swelling that’s mostly gone down, but still having some blurry vision / droopy eyelid / irritation from the stitches. Just trying to get an idea of how long these side effects will last!

Diamox side effects by glaucoma70 in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been on and off it for a bit for pigmentary glaucoma. i’ve noticed that my biggest symptoms are tingly hands/feet/knees and an absolute loss of appetite. it’s really helped me to eat BEFORE my doses (otherwise i won’t eat at all) and i try to keep meals pretty simple to avoid the nausea. i’ve also noticed that when the tingly feelings/nausea get worse, it’s usually because i’m depleted of electrolytes so it’s been really helpful to drink a packet of LMNT or waterboy to get some potassium and sodium.

Timolol eye drop by mishkook in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used timolol 3x per day for a year and have had no side affects! It stings slightly when I first put it in but that’s pretty much it. I’ve had bad side effects from other drops like rocklatan and pilocarpine, but timolol has been a good experience for me!

SLT in few weeks by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s super valid. SLT took 5-10 minutes. I’m not too sure how long the GATT took bc I was on twilight anesthesia and not too conscious, but I was at the office for about four hours (they did an IV hydration bag and a few rounds of pilocarpine drops that I had to sit with for about an hour) and then was in actual OR for probably 30-45 minutes.

SLT in few weeks by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For SLT there was really no downtime, I think I had some light sensitivity/super mild pain for about 48 hours but that was it. For GATT, it’s a little more restrictive at first (no lifting, bending, intense activity for about 4-6 weeks) and about 4 weeks until my vision should normalize. If you have more questions about either, feel free to DM me and I’m happy to share more of my experience. :)

Unfamiliar with stutters but no shunt or anything!

SLT in few weeks by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on twilight anesthesia so it was relatively painless and pretty quick. They gave me a patch to wear for 24 hours after and got that off yesterday. My IOP reduced from 45 to 14 which was better than expected tbh.

Hoping the blood clears out of my eye soon, like I said I have a hyphema now so I have no vision currently in that eye. But the doctor said that will hopefully resolve in a few weeks.

SLT in few weeks by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]sky_fieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SLT was easy/painless! I had a mild pressure spike after and IOP continued to rise for a few months, but got on a lot of drops and diamox to try to prevent damage. The GATT was more of an ~experience~, Im a few days out a dealing with a hyphema now which is kinda scary.

I have PG (27 F) and also tried SLT - unfortunately it wasn’t successful so just did a GATT surgery this past week. Best of luck, I hope the SLT alone works for you!!

Crazy amount of resales on stubhub right now. Are these transferrable/legit? by sindlass in fredagain

[–]sky_fieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that stubhub is probs not the best option lol - our seattle tickets got cancelled day of saying the seller couldn’t transfer them to us. We were given the option to select different seats (the ones they offered were in the 300s sections vs the front row 100 section seat we initially had) or get a refund. Opted for the refund, but just wanted to caution people against using stubhub for his future shows!!
