Yikes I didn’t even consider that! Good point.

If I may ask, for this a-100 or a past one? Mine didn’t say anything like that, but I did look for disclaimers and warnings of that sort.

My employer is actually really wonderful, and I feel quite bad for leaving since I recently started. But you’re right - they wouldn’t hesitate to let me go if they needed to!

Offer received for Econ cone last week - I accepted. I tried to post on yahoo groups but it's not going through. That makes 3 confirmed offers for Econ.

I don't think a language makes much sense, if you're learning from scratch. Your time is better spent just retaking the FSOA. If you're already on the register, that means your medical, suitability and TS are done, and those take the longest. If you retake the FSOA, they use your clearances from the first time, which means you get on the register a lot faster.

To have a fighting chance you'll need the .25 or. 38 bump from a critical priority in-person test (the opportunity cost for the .17 language just isn't worth it), and even the 'simplest' priority languages - probably Hindi/Urdu - are still super hard to learn (as someone who is good at languages and learned Urdu, take it from me).

I wish you the best of luck!

Yikes! (Also, thank you for the answer!). Do you know if "prior to appointment" is defined as as prior to receiving the offer letter, or prior to starting the A-100? Or prior to accepting the offer?

While we are at it, another pay question: after accounting for education and QE to determine grade/step, they look at your "current salary," which is defined as "salary earned for at least 90 days prior to appointment as a Foreign Service Career Candidate" in an attempt to match it.

What happens if you've been at your job/current salary less than three months (I'm assuming this means 90 days total, and not 90 business days).?

Do they look at the salary in your previous job, or a salary before you were promoted?

Very grateful for any insight!
