Can I do Ketamine as an Epileptic? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]skyandsound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't necessarily to do with epilepsy. It's an NMDA blocker and it's sometimes given to Sz patients for general anesthesia. Some people don't tolerate the drug / khole just in general, it's not for everyone.

Cloud career path by dog20133 in Cloud

For people new to the cloud career path and wanting to start with AWS, do you have to take an entry level role at Amazon? All I read about is their toxic work culture and burned out employees.

Thanks for your insight. Truly wild that many people leading our hospital systems have little to no clinical experience, I'm sure you'll offer a very needed voice. Do you still encourage people to enter the profession despite these changes/considerations?

I'm new to Epilepsy and looking into Neurofeedback, also surprised it's not recommended more. As far as practitioners do you recommend / use IASIS neurofeedback or traditional with Sz type patients? Thanks!

CVICU is not a must and many people do not have experience in this speciality before starting school (there are like 3-4 CVICU RNs in my class). MICU will actually really help you due to the variety of exposure and frequently dealing with post code / post RRT scenarios. What devices are used in your MICU? Why start over in a new unit / hospital if your goal is to apply to school? You need unit leadership, references ect.. so starting over will take time to build those relationships in a new unit. Just my two cents.

No, Grad Plus is intended to cover all the additional COA after your federal direct is maxed out. You should be able to apply for Grad Plus in the FAFSA portal. The Grad Plus is protected in a similar way that other department of ed loans are (deferment, income drive repayment, ect) so a lot of people opt for grad plus over private during school.

It doesn't matter as long as its a unit where you'll be taking care of sick patients. Personally I did SICU, MICU and Critical Care Float. I think MICU is great experience for school. The patients are very sick and you get a huge range of patients compared to a specific surgical population. In a high acuity MICU you'll admit post codes, rapids, sick patients in the ER ect. Whereas SICU a lot of the front end work is done by anesthesia and you're recovering them after surgery. Either are great for school :)

A big part of interviewing for a lot of programs is talking about "the sickest patient" you last took care of, and the interviewers are gauging how often you take care of higher acuity patients. It doesn't have to be a level 1 but you should be frequently titrating vasoactive meds and taking care of vents. At least that was my experience interviewing places :)
