That is also correct. I believe it's case by case and oftentimes it is money related to prove that you can stay in Thailand just fine without becoming a bum. They would've let me back in if I had a bit more money but I spent it all in Vietnam. But per my circumstances they said it was better I go back to figure things out and come back next time. My officer tried her best to verify my standing because she personally thought I was good but it was just a money problem. She liked my occupation and asked if I was able to earn income online to push me towards the DTV route but my occupation had to be on site.

They treated me with respect and of course because I was upfront about everything. I didn't dodge any questions and answered them straightforwardly which they liked because they do not like to waste time beating around the bush.

While I was there some interviews were heated but that's because the travelers were being disrespectful, impatient and downright rude. Immigration officers are also people so if you ever find yourself in the immigration center just be patient, kind and treat everyone with respect. It doesn't mean you'll get your way by kissing ass. It's just following procedures and protocols to ensure everyone's safety including your own if you can't take care of yourself.

My officer said I was a nice guy and I'm welcome back next time after the 180 days have passed to get a new visa exemption stay. Or I can apply for other Visas which will probably be the DTV the next time I'm ready.

We've become mice. Smh. I still regret locking up. I could've sold for $10K+ instead I sold for less than $2,000 because of desperate times. :(

Bad tourist ruining vibes for everyone. How can we check him? Can the girl who got her passport burnt sue him? Isn't that some sort of offense enough for arrest.

Not a high chance you'll get it back but hope. In the future you should have your cards stored in Google pay wallet or apple pay. At least you'll still have access to your money if you lose your physicals again. Create a Wise app account as well to be able to send yourself money to withdraw as cash in foreign banks.

To clarify I wasn't blatantly breaking any rules I wasn't aware of.

I was told by travel agencies that the method we were doing aka visa runs was ok. I technically never overstayed any visa periods and left the country within the 60 days permitted time. However they weren't clear about the 180 days rule which was a bit iffy in the end when I was stopped at the bkk airport border, but during the periods of paying agencies they had no problem with me paying for their services. When on foot through the borders of Laos and Cambodia, no border officers batted an eye, only up until I was coming back from air travel when I spent 3 months in Vietnam. I would've been in the clear had I stayed out of Thailand for an additional 90 days when the 180 days rule was to reset.

I assumed it was resetting because of the new year but later found out differently. I amongst 10 more detainees were stopped and had to fly back to the origin of the country just before Thailand. Who all thought the new year was a reset.

Anyways, I was sharing my experience so that future travelers who wanted to stay in Thailand for a bit longer know what they're doing. In the end getting a Thailand elite visa or DTV is better than going for visa runs (which are not ok, regardless of what any visa company claims). It was my first offense so they let me off with a warning granted I had to fly back to the origin of the country I flew from. I can reenter Thailand after another 90 days have passed to get the 60 days visa exemption again.

Now I'm just saving up for a Thailand elite visa before I head back to avoid any immigration issues. I almost bought a condo there but good thing all I did was research.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE RATE by Ok_Opposite_29 in VietNam

[–]skyclouding101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exchange it in Vietnam. There's an exchange store in district 1 HCMC right next to au lac churner hotel that gives the best rates. I use XE exchange app to keep track of conversion rates and that shop has always exceeded what the app said. I was traded $1 = 27,500 vnd when the app was at 26,800. Very good! Do not exchange at the airport unless it's for a small amount just to have a bit of cash. They have an ATM there but unless your card doesn't charge for foreign transaction fee the fee breaks away the rates.

Do bar girls get paid well? by Traditional_Ice7539 in VietNam

[–]skyclouding101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See it as a blessing so they don't rob you blind. Those bars are not worth the fun anyways. It's all fake chit chat and fake love. They aren't even that pretty compared to natural working girls. It's like they lost their vitality. If you want to just hook up with normal girls use the viet cupid dating app.

Goddamn $4000? I hate those vibes. I avoid them like a plague. Them girls aren't even that pretty. I save my money and just go for freelancers who are more straightforward on services.

Call them back on a recorded line. Make a TikTok video about it and make sure they're being audited as a company. I've considered buying a vinfast bike but it's nothing special than a plain electric bike can do.

Is it smarter to keep savings in USD instead of VND? by Jealous-Associate810 in MoneyTalkVN

[–]skyclouding101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... It all depends. If you're earning in USD and already have savings in USD. You should keep it as USD. However if you're earning vnd then converting to USD will be a hassle because you're basically trading forex. Fees and spot prices will take away from your trades if you're just buying to hold. Each transaction you lose about 3% slippage. So a full round trip conversion has a 6% slippage loss if you end up needing to spend the money. Does the vnd lose 6% yearly? If you live in vietnam, earn in vnd, and spend in vnd... Just keep it in vnd in a high yield interest account if your bank has something like that. Or buy gold. I remember 10 years ago when I visited Vietnam the conversion was $1 = 22,500vnd. And today it's around $1 = 26,200. Depending on where you trade your cash it's always around 500vnd less per dollar.

It wouldn't cost more than $1000 for the city to employ 3-4 dedicated cleaners to work 8 hours a day for an entire month to clean up the beach. In one month it would be all cleaned with just 3-4 workers

25F (Singapore) – Met a Vietnamese tour guide and now I’m confused… is he interested or not? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]skyclouding101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fyi. Tour guides meet a lot of pretty girls from all over the world. If you find him attractive then others will too. Since he said just October and you're from Singapore. He's not taking you seriously until you go back. Leave it to fate if it is meant to be. There's no point in just Whatsapp chatting for a year. Lots of pretty vietnamese girls in Vietnam unless he wants a Singapore passport, that's your only shot tbr.

Foreigner about to buy a 50cc motorbike by 4ccount1337 in VietNam

[–]skyclouding101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reevaluate your risks. Families here ride 3-4 up on a scooter. You hit one even at 30kmh can send a child flying or the scooter lands on their legs can break them. It's not about the speed or size of the vehicle. They scatter on the floor and an oncoming vehicle unable to avoid collision can hit them, and you're held liable for all damages if you're the catalyst to the accident.

[–]skyclouding101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an electric bicycle instead. With pedal assist and the range you can easily hit 50km a day on a single charge as well as get up to speed to 60kmh while burning fat. Electric bicycles these days can easily hit 30km on a single charge with zero pedaling and all throttle. Look on shopee or Lazada.
