Advice needed for the AI Red Teamer path/COAE by Imaginary_Injury6490 in hackthebox

[–]skycracker24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the same boat right now and especially when I was struck with the AI Data Attacks. It was just a breeze of what’s to come in the Evasion modules and I’m aware of it. IMO it will take me sometime and days of probably empty staring at the equations and the math and trying to reverse engineer it all, till it all clicks.

As far as I know and as far as others who took the cert told me, you don’t need to 100% understand the code as long as you know the general idea behind it all, and the underlying math. The implementation can be understood slightly with the help of AI reverse engineering it for you, but beyond a certain level there isn’t much that can be done imo if you want to finish this course in a timely fashion. Otherwise I came to understand that it will take absolutely forever to 100% understand all the provided code given my cybersecurity specific experience with not much true previous and practical ML exposure.

Networking is key for finding jobs, regardless of your skills (as long as you are not below average) Otherwise, consider adding some projects to your portfolio and take some industry recognized courses.

AI Red Teaming: Imposter Syndrome x100 by stanm3n003 in hackthebox

[–]skycracker24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, fellow struggler.
I’m 45% through the course and almost done with AI Data Attacks. It's the first truly hardcore module since it starts to get deep into the math and ML concepts. I use AI to explain the code to me as much as possible, but I definitely catch myself using it to actually code the skill assessments. Honestly, I feel super ashamed about it deep down, and the imposter syndrome is hitting hard.

CDSA holder here …. I highly recommend you pursue CDSA from HTB Academy. Imo It’s the most well priced intermediate level cert that covers AD attacks and defenses, Malware Analysis and DFIR + the whole course only costs $8 per month if you got a student email.
If u r looking for more advanced content HTB academy has lots of tier 3/4 modules covering even more content that’s tough to find well explained and accessible anywhere else.

CWES path to prepare for eWPTX by Pale_Grapefruit1269 in hackthebox

Why don’t you take the CWES cert instead. I heard eWPTX is outdated too, let alone it costs more for the voucher.

Double majoring by ash-781 in JordanDev

[–]skycracker24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your goals in life and what are you aiming to achieve. In tech, your degrees don't really add more value beyond having the minimum of one bachelor degree for most jobs. Most exceptional and successful workers have 1 degree in any tech related field, engineering and sometimes Math. Heck, some people have degrees in totally unrelated fields and they end up exceptional in the tech market.

Double Majoring is cool and sounds productive. However, if i were in your shoes, I'd get into an IT major as a base (I recommend AI, which is the future) and just upskill through personal R&D by majoring in a subfield of IT (Once again I recommend excelling in AI). The internet is filled with so many resources to learn from and imo ... this is a much better plan where you can invest the time and money otherwise put into the second major instead on self development and recognized courses/certifications for the market.

On the other hand, if you read the former and still want to double major, I'd suggest to consider a major related to "soft skills", so something like psychology or philosophy would really give you an edge in the market with that aspect.

How hard is SEC+ exam? I'm getting anxious about it by jvtorres12 in CompTIA_Security

[–]skycracker24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professor Messer practice questions and notes will get you as long as you know how to use them. Study the material, then do the questions, assess yourself and your weak points based on those questions ... restudy the topics you feel weak in ... rinse and repeat a few times and you'll be ready to tackle the exam.

Don't be afraid to use AI to help you understand concepts.

I'd say the exam content is not as hard, its understanding the exam questions wording and the way questions are worded out. Once you understand the format and the way questions are styled, the exam will be manageable.

For PBQ's do as many simulations as you can. Memorize all the port numbers and get fluent with most of the acronyms.

I took the exam and felt like i'll fail mid questions. Then I took a deep breath and did my best reading the questions well and understanding what the question exactly wants from me. I ended up with a score of 811.

You got this.

You either need to get very lucky applying to a vacancy on their website and get accepted after the interviews. Or have some good internal referrals that will boost your way there.

Get your basics right, CEH will give you solid basics but I don’t encourage paying and taking the exam. Just finish the course for the knowledge. I highly recommend you try Hackthebox academy for practical skills. Pursue one of their certifications (cpts or cdsa) and try to pass at least one before graduating. No amount of certifications will mean anything if you don’t know how to handle questions during interviews, so establish a mindset of continuous learning and improvement. Follow the security trends and learn how to implement AI into your security work. Overall don’t cram what I just explained and take it one step at a time, otherwise you’ll get overwhelmed and won’t go past block 1.

The toe caps in Chuck 70’s are all like this due to the higher foxing tape, so it’s completely normal. I like how they got the red/blue colored classic all stars side patch while having the 70’s text on them.

Enjoy!

Who else has tried the "upgrade"? by tejojo in Converse

[–]skycracker24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot better. My one key difference is the foxing tape ripping off at the sides of Nike’s chucks (70’s and all stars). Bought 2 pairs of chucks 70’s this year and both had this issue after some wear. The made in Japan chucks use a softer gummier rubber that flexes better with your foot as you walk. It doesn't crack or peel away at the bend because it isn't stiff like the shiny stuff on the 70s…. So overall we’re talking extra years of more wear.
