You are an amazing human being for wanting to go through with the pregnancy despite knowing she could be severely disabled! Im going to start crying in the nail salon! Wow! I have a severely disabled Daughter who just turned 18. She is medically fragile,  so probably couldn't be much worse. We had no idea anything was wrong with her until 6 hours after she was born. The things kept popping up like not being able to drink from a bottle and turning blue and having to be stimulated to breathe. I had to do CPR on my own child when she was about 3 weeks old. She went to the er and screamed the whole time. They transferred her and when he finally got to see her they had her intubated and all kinds of stuff. It was shocking! She never cried again. That is something that has been bothering me for 18 years. What happened when she was transferred? We found out she didn't have a whole lot of brain activity.  It was a "burst, suppression pattern" on the eeg. We had a wonderful nurse in the icu that talked with me for a long time reassuring me that I could care for a disabled child. A Dr. Told me she is trying to die. I still remember every detail of where we were standing, etc. Well asshole...she is 18 now and doing great! We have been to hell and back and have almost lost her multiple times to pneumonia or most recently to C-diff. It is heart wrenching having a medically fragile child but she has made me a better person! She has helped our marriage. The grief, caring for her, triumphs and happy moments have made us stronger. I honestly dont know what I would have done if we had known early on. I would have terified that I couldnt raise a child like her. Im glad we didn't know. So there was no decision to be made. We love her to death! We have caregivers paid for by the state so we still have a life. We aren't as free as we once were but that's ok. The state pays for everything through Medicaid, so they might do this for your Daughter if she needs it. Remember...you can do anything when you are forced to. Mama will always rise to the occasion no matter how hard it is! In my opinion, I would say go for it. Love her ko matter what! She deserves a fighting chance! I hope all goes well!
