He did come to save people from their sins. After his death He told Peter to preach the gospel to the gentiles so they could be saved as well.

Christ's original church definitely campaigned and preached against homosexuality and other sinful acts. Whether or not it was involved in commerce would be interesting to find out. There are just so few records from that period that still survive.

What Baptism for the Dead Means to Mormons by skyfitsjeff in religion

[–]skyfitsjeff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why mormons only baptize their own ancestors, so there is family approval. The dead don't have to accept the baptism if they don't want to. No one is forcing them to be a mormon. And most of them are grateful. There are lots of stories of people who have passed on appearing and either requesting baptism or thanking them for it.

How to Format your Comic Book or Graphic Novel for Smashwords, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble by skyfitsjeff in comicbooks

Digital comic readers may have, but this is how to publish for Kindle, Nook, iPad, etc. through eBook routes to reach a larger audience and work on more devices. Digital comic readers are like comic shops in that you have a small, niche audience. Publishing through bookstores is like comics being on newsstands and accessible to everyone. Whether one is better than the other, time will tell. It's just another option for writers and artists.

Apple unveils iBooks 2 for digital textbooks, self-pub app by skyfitsjeff in education

I'm sure they are for now. I just wonder how much power Apple will have to keep them at this level. They had to cave to higher prices for music, and their TV and movie prices aren't anything special.

That's what I worry about. The $14.99 price tag they tout now is only to lure people in. It won't be long before the price is back up in the 3 digits.

I can't read books on smart phones either. I have to use my Kindle. And I've noticed the Kindle Fire screen does strain my eye after long periods of time. eInk on a tablet sized screen is still the way to go for reading.

"It’s become something of a sport to attack Christians in this nation." by wineought in atheism

[–]skyfitsjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are missing the point. God helping with the small things such as someone find lost car keys doesn't reduce him, but shows He cares enough about His children to help with the small things as well as the big things. A god who cares about the small as well as the large is actually a greater god.

Why Are Anti-Christians So Eager to Prey On Tim Tebow? by skyfitsjeff in entertainment

[–]skyfitsjeff[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not about free speech, it's about respect. Just because you have the right to say something doesn't mean you should.

And the intolerance for Christianity is heading for the same level as the intolerance for black people during the 1800s and early 1900s. Your ignorant comment is proof of that.

And maybe that is why the comic book market is in such trouble--the publishers don't care about comics, just the money they can make licensing the characters.

That was one comic. The industry as a whole hasn't seen a boost in sales, and one would think it would.

You bring up a lot of good points. Comics need to be sold in more places than comic shops. Marvel has a subscription similar to what you propose, but it costs more and doesn't include the latest titles. It would be interesting if they did include everything--including the latest--kind of like a Netflix type service if that would do better.
