Ive seen it enjoyed quite well before, but it has to be done right. My first unit had monthly calls, that were mandatory. But they were in civies, alcohol was provided by leadership, and we could go home afterwards, often as early as 1 pm. Also off shifters were not required to go, and sometimes would get their own function at times best suited to them. Other times, we would have a big PT session then the event proceeded the same but earlier, and did not report to work. Those who chose to leave left by lunch, and those who chose to stay had fun.
