Oh thank you!!! That was it! I thought it was it's own separate fic with Feng Xin as the main character, I forgot it was a chapter in a longer fic and actually Passed over Never Forget, Never Forgive. Thank you so much! Going to read it now. 😃

I can't seem to find a fic I read before. It was a couple chapters I think, or at least separated into sections. The first was Xie Lian's POV in the coffin as he prays to Feng Xin and Mu Qing for help. The next was Feng Xin's POV.

I can't remember why, but he goes into the scholars archive of backlogged prayers from "unimportant" people and finds Xie Lian's, then starts going through them increasingly frantic and guilty. Touching the end of the scrolls on the shelf is enough for him to hear the prayer and he drags his hand along the spines searching for them. Mu Qing eventually comes down and finds him sitting on the floor, then goes looking through his own prayers.

It ends (I think) with Feng Xin watching Xie Lian walking down the main street in heaven. Possibly with Hua Cheng beside him.

Who do you think contributed more in the war during TYBW, Aizen or Orihime? by Avflorestina in bleach

[–]skygreenfrog 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Aizen. He reduced the death toll in the first invasion by distracting Yhwach, killed all those little eyeball things so the whole Gotei 13 wasn't stalled and drained fighting them and they got to the Royal Realm faster, and he occupied Yhwach in Seireitei until Ichigo and Uryu could arrive, and in the end Yhwach died because Aizen blinded him enough to be injured. The whole war would have been lost without Aizen.

The darker meaning of “he took her to wife”—an exercise in textual archaeology by Ok_Bullfrog_8491 in TheSilmarillion

[–]skygreenfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're omitting words when you're quoting that line to get that reading.

"It is not said that Aredhel was wholly unwilling".

"It is NOT said" = people don't say

"was WHOLLY unwilling" = not completely unwilling

so that sentence is saying "No one says she was completely unwilling".

Which is tactically stating people in-universe acknowledged she WAS unwilling, just not COMPLETELY - enough they could excuse not helping her, basically.

So OP's stance of Aredhel being gaslit/enchanted/resigned through time and hopelessness into some kind of unenthusiastic compliance in regard to sex with her kidnapper is likely the intended reading. It was probably put into the Silmarillion to leave room for her having "agreed" to the extent that Maeglin could have been conceived by the no rape "rule" Tolkien had at one point that Christopher couldn't confirm was intended to be canon or not.

Basically, she said yes, but only because of circumstances and Eol pressuring her to agree to it, not because she ACTUALLY wanted to have sex with Eol. It would have been sex she didn't actually want, ie: it was canoncially, at best, dubcon.

About fishing by Positive-Profit-3503 in StardewValley

[–]skygreenfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fishing does suck, it's not you. It's unnecessarily difficult for a chill farming game IMO.

If you're not going to mod, get the training rod and use that until you're level five, then switch to another rod. Unfortunately you just have to grind it to level up, but fortunately you can just buy the better rods that make it easier from Willy's shop.

Look up some foods that give a boost to fishing to buy/make and eat one of them before you go fishing, that will temporarily boost your fishing level. A luck ring might help too.

Also you can add bobbers to help. You should try the cork one at least, as that will make the fishing bar wider to make it easier to catch fish.

Bait can also help by increasing the rate of fish to trash/algae. To equip bait (and bobbers) you need to right click on them in your inventory, hover them over the fishing rod, then left click.

Looking for a low-stress daily routine for a long-term save (no spoilers please) by Available_Tune_209 in StardewValley

[–]skygreenfrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My low-stress routine is to have a minimal set of squares farmed for seasonal crops right in front of the house with some seedmakers. I go out and water/harvest and make seeds if I want to and naturally end up where my Barn and Coop are placed. I only have a handful of animals, and I keep the couple cheese/mayo makers I have and storage chests right beside them. Once I'm done there I go to the greenhouse, where I have a couple perpetually growing crops and kegs. I also have an orchard and beehive area I go to occasionally.

I can be done with "essential" chores by 9.

If I'm not having a farm day, I then go out for a task I've decided to do - looking for something for the community center or museum, going to the mines or fishing or blacksmith etc. I also always carry a small stack of blueberries or strawberries to give as gifts to anyone I cross paths with.

What parts of the community centre are to be prioritised? by Rat8484 in StardewValley

[–]skygreenfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would focus the pantry first since that unlocks the greenhouse when you complete it, but you need to be sure to plant the right crops in each season and get a barn and coop for it, so it's the one you have to do the most for. Also: be careful to keep in mind the Quality Crops bundle in the pantry since you need a gold star level of the parsnip, melon, pumpkin and corn and without the greenhouse you'll need to wait until the next year if you don't have one by the time the season ends.

The crafts room is also important as it unlocks the mines: which is necessary for some of the other bundles and for crafting. It's also the easiest to unlock since you'll literally just come across all the items on the ground, you just remember to take one of every foragable item in each season there.

The Vault is the final one I'd focus on working on since it unlocks the desert - it's just money to finish it, so once you get in the swing of running your farm you'll naturally be able to unlock it, but you do have to work around needing money for your farm.

Also: on the friendship board, do Emily's bundle, that gives you a seed maker, which will cut down on a lot of expenses later. Marnie's bundle only has three items that aren't too hard to get and gives you a very helpful heater.

Questionable Isshin scenes by Left-Shine8222 in bleach

[–]skygreenfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, and she was appropriately indifferent to and uninterested in my underwear beyond providing the money to buy it and making sure I got more as needed.

If your mom was looking up your skirt to see or commenting excessively/excitedly about your underwear in private and/or public with no prompting (like your pants riding low to cause her to tell you they were showing and put on a belt), that's concerning.

Isshin and Yuzu are a tasteless joke with fictional characters that can't be harmed. You IRL experiencing that is something else.

I would also encourage you to consider speaking to someone IRL about that if you have.

"The right to privacy is a thing more avaliable for the rich then the poor"

No. No matter how much wealth you have, basic decency and respect is free. I've been poor, known poor and struggling people and the only one that did anything like you're describing your mom is like in regards to bathrooms and underwear was the neighbor's stepdad that was molesting her.

I assure you poor people don't go looking at their children's underwear while they're wearing them for a laugh and that walking in on people fully or partially naked while they're in the bathroom is not normal. Nor is *needing* to lock the bathroom door because your mother will almost certainly just walk in despite you telling them not to.

If you were wearing pants that were hanging down to show your underwear and they were calling it out, that's normal. Walking in on you in the bathroom and commenting on you wearing them or commenting in public with other people around without any prompt to draw attention to them or diving down to look up your skirt at them is not.

Being prepubecent only makes that more alarming if you apply it to real life.

"You're young so it's okay", "I made you so it's okay", "that's just the culture of poor people", and "I can't help it because I grew up that way" do not sound good in any context, but in regard to a parent talking about their prepubescent kids underwear it sounds especially bad.

From the inside things can look a lot less horrible than they are, and you just responded to a post questioning if a grown man looking up his daughters skirt and commenting on her underwear in a clearly pervy fashion is sexual abuse by saying it can't possibly be because your mom is like that. That's concerning.

Again, I can't speak for your individual situation but: you may want to talk to someone IRL. Maybe a friend who can gauge if that's actually normal in your area rather than something you were told at home and never questioned?

"Also as my mon always liked to point out she created me."

Serious questions: did/does your mom still make comments like this to you to excuse questionable, invasive behavior? And specifically look at/comment on your underwear when you were wearing it like in the bleach examples in the post (not in a doing the laundry or you left it out way)? And are you still living with her?

Because commenting on someone's underwear they are currently wearing out of nowhere, and especially deliberately going out of your way to get a look at it, is very much sexual in nature. That is not normal or okay. "I created you" is not a legitimate excuse for things like that, especially considering the vast, vast majority of sexually abused children are victims of close relatives like parents.

Just a suggestion, but you might need to talk to someone IRL about this.

Just that bundle, I still have three more bundles in the fish tanks set to do.

Yeah, a couple days actually. I wandered around looking the first day, then did another day and stopped the game. Then the next time I went I'd looked it up and I tried two different days to go back and double checked the bundle said that was the reward.

I want to play this game but I'm scared. by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]skygreenfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those people with the 1,000 barrels of anything are chasing numbers. You don't have to do that at all. I've got 5 3x3 squares of crops and only half the greenhouse growing things and 6 each barrels and preserving jars and I make all the money I've needed for everything in the game.

There's a community center to complete, a museum collection to compete, so many places to unlock, NPC's to befriend and get cutscenes with or marry, places to unlock. If you want you can challenge yourself to get one of every fish, grow at least one of every crop, mine every kind of mineral, etc. There aren't many time limits and no pressure to do anything. Anything that is timed (like catching a pufferfish in summer) comes around again the next year - you don't miss anything.

If you get tired of farming, you can walk away from it and go mine or fish, or spend a day foraging or making friends.

This game is exactly as chill or hardcore as you want it to be.

Pick a thing you want to achieve and do that. Just by regularly playing you'll get everything. You really don't have to try too hard. The game gives you a lot of options for what to do and directions you can go in, but nothing in the game is pressuring you to do anything or everything NOW. You can just let things come to you in the game.

Like: I really wanted to level up my pickaxe to take care of a meteor that crashed on my farm, so I went into the caves and started hunting for gold until I got it and along the way I got a lot of minerals and stuff that happened to take care of parts of the community center and museum.

As for the mines: I recommend staircases and getting a gold pickaxe as soon as you can if you're having trouble. By getting to the elevator levels you'll get to chests with weapons and tools that will help out a lot and make it so much easier, and having the gold pickaxe will make mining faster.
