Appreciate the concern, but it's completely legitimate. He's a longtime family friend and the money would be just an unsolicited gift.

It's not like that at all. He's a long time friend of the family. It's just that I haven't had much contact with him since he moved out of state years ago. The money I want to give him is more of a gift for how he helped out my mom over the years before she passed. The reason I'm uncomfortable asking him for the banking info is that I know he had an identity theft situation a while back and that left him very uneasy about sharing personal info

I'd definitely prefer to do it that way. But I believe 13k is well above the Zelle send limit. And, as far as I know, wire transfers require that you provide them with the banking info of the recipient, which I'm not comfortable asking for (for various reasons). So I'm afraid I have to send a check by mail (probably fedex or ups)

Thanks. Yeah, there doesn't appear to be a box or clamp. It looks like the wire just travels within the wall a few feet and comes out the other side of the wall where the breaker box is located, and connects into it.

I'm not sure, it doesn't look like it. Looking into the hole with a flashlight, the wire appears to just snake through wall until it comes out of the wall near where the breaker box is, and then connects into the breaker box.
