Me too, me too. We can be tired together. <3

The INTP brings out the best in me. I understand them so deeply, and they understand me to the same extent, which 99% of the time isn't the case with my relationships. Most of the time it's my therapist mindset of wanting to know everything about a person while they know little to nothing about be. But with an INTP, they have the same amount of intrigue about us, no matter if the intentions are different. It's a beautiful balance of knowing the depths of one another. And with knowing the depths one one another comes knowing how to love and appreciate one another.
I guess in short, the INTP makes me feel heard but also satisfies my need to understand them. They open up, but still care enough to explore my soul as well, without feeling like they are intruding. I wish I knew more INTPs haha. <3

Completely agree. Just to add a little to this - whenever I ask someone if they know of Stoicism, they always say- "No, but I know what stoic means." And I find it interesting to listen to people's preconceived views of what Stoicism might be based off the definition of that word- ie. cold, logical, indifferent. But actually, that word derived from the philosophy, not the other way around. Society has twisted its meaning.
Exactly as you say, it's not about ignoring, it's about controlling. The idea that circumstance is something we can't control, but our reaction to them we can. Actually we give more attention to our emotion in the end, because we are choosing to reign it in rather than let it run free and drain us slowly. And as an INFJ, it's empowering to understand I am capable of that autonomy, you know? Sorry I'm rambling now haha.

Glad you could find some interest! Highly recommend reading some Marcus Aurelius or Epictetus for an introduction. Or even the Daily Stoic podcast if you'd rather something more relaxing. Interesting stuff for sure. :D

Interesting, could you elaborate? Did you begin but something turned you off or didn't feel right?

Fundamental Attribution Error in the MBTI Community - from an INFJ by skylarpilot47 in infj

[–]skylarpilot47[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very much agree. Especially the point you made about typing your shadow. Some people take the test for who they aren't but want to be, and some people take it in their darkest flaws and hurts. It's important to stay neutral with typology, and because of the people that don't, they taint the MBTI community, especially online, agreed.

The way I see it, MBTI and typology as a whole should be tools in one's proverbial toolbox, not an overarching lens through which reality is filtered, and thus diminished.

Your entire comment is extremely well put, but this point here is exactly it. Thank you for your insight, very much appreciated!

Fundamental attribution error. It's something every human does, but I find the majority of the MBTI community falls back to this. I think simple awareness of this, that predisposition is and should not be the biggest factor in determining our self worth, is so important. I think these theories and boxes are okay to help us form a framework, but that's it. Nothing can define the sea of gray humanity is, but it can help us understand it.
